Staking Plans
After some very brief discussion on another thread as to the suggested amounts wagered on certain plays, i was wondering what kind of staking plans you guys use and/or why? Is any particular method preferable to another is it just personal preference and comfort levels?

There is no method period.
You bet the same amount on every game as their is no such thing as liking one game more than the other. The chances of winning the game you love against the game you like only a little is 50%.
5% bankroll per bet the most

To say there is only one staking method is short-sighted. Perhaps there is only one method you are comfartable with and so be it. Flat or level stake betting as you suggest is the tradtional method, but there are others and plenty of them. Betting to prices or lines as you guys call them is one i use quite often.
At the end of the day it is not the stake that matters but the result of the game. If you lose you lose and if you win you win - period. Obviously any method you use should be within your comfort range but some games deserve larger stakes than others.

True there are way more methods than my way but I think the best way is to have the same amount on every game and bet no multiple type bets

The consensus is to bet small enough where the worst run of your life wouldn't knock you out. Wager defensively and stay in the game. Some believe a conservative bet is 1 to 5%. 5% is too much.
Lots of bettors get hurt bad by trying to hammer the house when the opportunity arises. If the player finds a huge advantage they still need to consider their bank roll and how a loss could affect their ability to invest in the future.
For example, if your local bookie is offering a line that is vastly different than the market price, you might be tempted to over expose yourself. This is where the over-used term "money management" really comes in to play. I have been guilty of this a few times.

I increase my standard bet size according to what kind of bragain i find. If my play is 1000 on a line that everyone has i will increase it to 1250 after I find another point or a 7 % higher payout.
