Default OJ is getting 18 years?? WTF?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/column...ter&id=3744239

What is he like 61? I think he would have to serve at least 12 so hmmp he will be out when he's 73.

From what I heard about the case he should get about 5 years and actually do 3.5. Unless I got it wrong no one got hurt or kidnapped and held for ransom or anything. Was a strong arm thug stuff and he should pay but 18 years?

Would he have received the same sentence if he had not killed his wife and Ron?? If Joe namath did the same thing would he do an 18 year spot??

Judicial system is a joke. They know they got it wrong the first time, and are trying to make up for it.

The real loser in this is Ron's parents, with OJ behind bars it's unlikely he can play cash cow for them anymore. He could barely walk down the street with them going after him for something monetarily.

That is exactly what I felt when this first started, that they would finally be able to nail him on this, to pay for what they didnt do in the first trial.

Gotta love the irony. He got off for murder because of his reputation, only to chase that reputation (through memorabilia) right back into the slammer.

What goes around comes around. And some will even chase it.

I believe kidnapping charges, regardless of severity, is a mandatory sentence in NV.

Plus they threw the book and found him guilty on all of the other charges, 12 total.

I will never forget hanging out at my friends place when the whole white suburban chase was on and the comedy channel had a news flash that "The Juice Was Loose". Screw these pro athletes, ect...they think they are gods. Look at Plaxico...the State of NY wants to drill him with whatever anyother Joe would get for his stupidity....3 yrs. Put him away, why not? Because he is Plaxico or is a pro athlete in the state of NY? Come on people, the judicial system needs to walk their talk.

Yea, doesn't smell right. It's like a ref missing a player getting hit in the head on a jumper and calling a flagrant the next time the defender brushes by.

Not on an 18 spot with a firearm involved. I think I read its madatory to do at least 3/4's of that.

Loved the juice at USC and Buffalo. Man he could run a sweep without any blocking.

You got to wonder why the fvck would he care about some memorbilla enough to even consider taking some thugs and lifting it back? Thats crap a 19 yr old would do and certainly not a 61 yr old who already walked on a double murder rap.

your right, oj has proven to be a very clever individual.

he kills his ex and bf in cold blood and leaves a blood trail back to his house and no alibi.

then plays the race card to get off and lucks out by having a mental retard on the bench.

yea he is a genius.

judge ito? the retard was the prosecutor that had him try on the gloves. Years of minority persecution at the hands of the police didn't help their case in front of a black jury either.

In a strange way he may have wanted to be caught. Why else would he have a book published 'If I did it" with all the gory detail? That was as close to a confession as you will ever see. To me OJ seems essentially a good guy, but one with a terrible temper. He never controlled the wild animal inside him. The non-animal side of him, call it his spiritual nature or whatever, may have wanted to see justice served.

People are strange.

Try putting yourself in his shoes. Almost everybody looks upon him as a murderer. Not much fun. And then he's a father who loves his kids. What if his daughter suddenly turned around, looked him in the eye, and said: 'You did kill mom!" Imagine the inner conflict he would have towards his kids. And imagine that build up for years... Just saying, a little thing could flip the switch and make him want to get his fair punishment.

The first time it was a race thing, when he was found not guilty there was a group of 1,500-2,000 African Americans jumping up and down screaming YESSSSSSSSSSSSS at San Diego State, a man who clearly murdered 2 people, but now no one cares about OJ anymore so this judge can do whatever she wants.

6 years is the minimum sentence based on the convictions. Anything greater than that in this case would be a travesty of justice. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Initially they did, as his assets were seized and sold at auction, then there was the book deal, but other than that nothing. OJ was working under the table doing signings for people, getting cahola. As well as his reported 25k/month retirement from the NFL.

That's what the editors are all saying, he must be banging his head against a wall asking how he could let himself get set up.

It was a set up, I forget the names, but someone who knew he was in Vegas went to OJ and told him that sh!t was being sold, sh!t that was his and stolen years ago, which would make it the property of the 33M judgment anyway. SO they got him all fired up, got him to say he has to be mean and intimidating and go in there and take control. He grabbed some friends and went in and did commit those acts, at least by defintion of statute.

So at trial he was given the worst judge in that jurisdiction and had a sham of a trial. All the black witnesses were excluded other than alternates and there was s speedy trial with a verdict ironically after 13 hours of delib and 13 years to the day after his murder acquittal. It was such a set up, the const requirement to be givena trial of your peers was so upset by the removal of all black jurors. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy, gut it was BS. With that, I don't see how he could get anything but the max.
