what's the deal with your user name?
is there a story or meaning not apparent in your screen name?
my nickname in High School was Archie, don't even remember why really.. and I live in Chicago, with the CHI- pronounced "shy" cuz i'm kinda quiet at first. what's with YOUR name? |

It's a play on my 1st greyhounds racing name and current name...we have a few rescued greys.

I believe this is about the 30th time I have seen this topic in my 6 or so years around forums. (Not bitching, just musing).
Simple answer: my cat is Mudcat. I think it is a cool sounding name. It also happens to relate to sports (older posters may remember pitcher Mudcat Grant). Bob's your uncle - I've got a posting handle. And it has provided some tremendous opportunities for bashers over the years. Most common choice of the ultra-creative forum basher: Mudrat.

I am EXTREMELY white. I played ball with a bunch of...oh shall we say...darker kids. My first nickname was Opie, than it became Powder. After getting a little more street cred on the court, I was fortunate enough to get upgraded to Casper. When I took my first bartending job in the city, my boss said "You are white as a ghost". When I told them what my nickname was, it continued. The Waits comes from my favorite singer Tom Waits. Had more drunken nights listening to his music, and crying over lost bets.

I signed up with this name to tease JJ and Nicky. My presence here took a different path and I came to regret my name choice. About 95% of the time "sickler" is mentioned in this forum, the reference is to sick gambler. It's like my neighbours having a dog with the same name as me, and hearing that name while in the backyard. Maybe they're calling me? No, it's the dog.
 Inquired about changing the name a few weeks ago, but there were database issues which prevented it. Me no want to start from zero posts. Bill & Willie, have those issues been rectified? |
