Default parlay or two seperate bets?

So I've always bet games. I'm a 24 year old college kid and I've built up a bankroll of about 4 grand this football season. Now that I've got a roll started, I'm looking for some advice on basic betting strategy and bankroll management.

Tonite I like houston and the over. When I like both equally, I'll normally just make a bet of equal value on both. Example: normally I'd just bet 200 on the texans and 200 on the over.

I get +280 on parlays with pushes=loss. I plan to bet both of these anyways. My question is over the long run will I do better with parlays or playing each for equal amounts at 10% juice?

I'm a straight bet type of guy..but betting parlays and hitting them = more value ..but of coarse its harder

I like straight bets because for example if I bet the OVER and Houston..if one happens to lose (which is likely to happen) you can make the money back with the other bet ..whereas in a parlay if you lose one..you lose it all

parlay at +280 would normally be better but not if you are betting -3

why would -3 be a bad line for a parlay? bc of the possible push?

even lines like 3,6,7,10 are bad parlay lines?

3 particularily, based on history the chance that Houston wins by 3 is 10%. 7 would also be a bad line to use anything else it is probably fine but it would be best to get half points to take advantage. +280 on a parlay is like getting -105 about if you play .5 lines or a book where ties do not lose.
