    Default Covers Is A Joke

They ban you indefinitely without any warning or reason whatsoever. Not even a message in the inbox.

My account had 10 posts and the 10th one was probably seen as rude for calling out someone's shit write-up and pick. Didn't insult him at all, even said "gl".

SBR is to 1900 America what Covers is to 1930 Soviet Union

I have a lifetime ban there as well. Why the hell would you want to post at a place that said BetEd was the greatest book ever and said they would never stiff. Also they have more annoying pop ups than 99% of the online local newspaper sites.

I just keep praying that someone will run off 25 in a row and win the $100,000 grand prize, can't wait to see how Covers handles that one. That's gonna be a hard one to stiff with it being the spotlight but I'm sure they'll pull it off somehow.

Covers has far more and better quality Football cappers than SBR, particularly now in offseason. Only reason I browse there.

Strange days indeed with those guys.

We always got along fine with them until BetOnline asked us to pass on their offer to take over BetED. Covers proved to be total amateurs by first denying there was an offer or that they had even been in contact with us. I wish them well. We will have no further contact with them on sportsbook matters for now or until we grow eyes in the back of our head.

    You're joking, right?

This is more like "get to know your local degen" rather than a gambling forum.

Then why are you here, better yet, why do you have almost 800 posts in only 5 months? Must not suck that bad if you average 6 posts per day for a 5 month stretch.

    I'm at Covers too.

don't get me wrong, I like SBR, but I don't take a lot of the post/ers seriously. So much of it is nonsense, or e-chest thumping, or cat fights over airbets.

I've learned a lot at both sites, but still think Covers has the more serious posts and better gambling advice.

SBR is better for knowing who gives the best BJs.

Point taken but my post was more directed towards management and sportsbook gradings (what I care about most in this industry). I do agree with you that PT here is wasted space but I just dig through it to find the few good posts by posters I enjoy reading their threads.

Me and beantown jim helped build that forum up, we were posting there with a couple ghosts each and there were still only 16 people in that place. then we put the word out and it grew and grew. After 6 months it was loaded. mostly dopes and losers but what forum isnt. it never took off with the smarter guys, too many kids there.

But they went ot shit real quick letting the scumbag touts rule the roost and then sponsoring shit books with the same bullshit excuses every other sell out used. So I got into my usual belligerent self and got banned. They got no heart there. I was nice to them, they obviously never saw me and Kenny get into it at the RX back in those days.

So the irony is of all the forums on the net the one i sort of helped get going is the only one i have ever been banned from.

But it was really no big deal, by then it was already a complete cesspool.

covers is a disgrace to the gambling industry in general. let their little pets do as they please, promoting a trannie as a "female journalist" sarah j phillips , banning people just for the hell of it, hanging from beteds nuts day and night, i could go on and on.

they do seem like they have some pretty good handicappers over there, vanzack, nostradamus (college sports, even though he got smacked last cfb season and seems to have some pretty square picks), saturdaynightfever, mrbator, etc.

Covers used to be a site wit a small search engine that you could see some match ups, which back in 98 and 99 was a pretty revolutionary thing. So they had their purpose. But it was a really small site with no forum, no blogs, just an article or two here and there and some editorials from "lou". Then as forums started blowing up, The Rx, Phoenix, madjack, majorwager, BobbyBs place and so on they figured they would throw their hat in the ring. So "lou" came out and announced they were starting one but it was going to be controlled and not like the other places, even had some sort of manifesto. So it looked like a decent place to try out. But it was dead, seriously. They didnt hire guys to post nonsense all day, I think then that was probably a new concept too...paid posters that is. So they did start up the 'right' way.

But as time went on it got more and more traffic. by football season there were probably 100-150 regular posters, basically about 2-3 times the current SBR number (perception anyway maybe not reality). They ran some really nice contests and that obviously brought more people in. So it was all pretty good until about the start of baseball in 2002. Then they started selling whole sale spots to touts. Not horrible ones, but a tout is a tout. Then they stared giving ad space to books that werent all that great. granted this was not new for sites even back then. But it was against everything they claimed they would do. So I, and a couple others called them out on it. it went back and forth and then more info came out, it got posted and guys got banned.

Then some stuff happened that was predictable. They had said they would never ever pay posters to moderate or post, yet some guys who were critical who didnt get banned were 'recruited' to be moderators and help keep the forums on track. I even got an email from them saying they would unban me if I would calm down. Mostly because I was (at the time) a 'respected' poster on the internet forums". Which begged the obvious question why try and neuter a guy who is respected? He got respected for a reason. I obviously laughed at them. I was offered so many paid spots back in those days when guys were giving out money like it was those strip club flyers on the Strip that it was comical. I never took any of them. Didnt need them, and at that time there was still some sense that there would be a balance in the offshore worls where the truly solid books who were just doing business could be reppresented without bias or a sense of buying people. As opposed to all the shady books that basically bought people off for a few hundred bux in free deposits.

Basically Covers was a disappointment. Maybe I was naive to think a place could run a business and stay unbiased and not sell out. So its like finding out the girl you thought was wholesome and sweet in your past was one of the biggest whores around. Some guys might be mad because she didnt give it up to them, but the guys with their own morales will just be saddened by it.

But Covers had a sweet model, and their information and data was really second to none for a long time. So they had their niche. The forums could have been left alone and untainted, but they chose to let it happen. But once you start sleeping with the kinds of guys they started sleeping with it isnt long before the whole place gets the stink.

They have their niche still, guys who dont know any better, weekend warriors who just bet when they have money, college guys trying to sound tough,a few guys left over from the old days that are bought and paid for and looked at like most people look at billy walters. basically a fairy tale that has had so many stories told about them and so many people back them up that they are regarded as gospel.

So that is the basic covers story, at least all I am willing to share. some opinion some based on knowledge. And IMO pretty unbiased considering everything.

It's alright to browse thru, they have some decent contests and some info to fade.

Don't really care what books sponsor them as I'm not going to play at them anyway.
