all i can think of is pitched a no hitter, and lost the game.

andy hawkins did it back in 1990. i don't know the other two players though.

How about turn unassisted triple plays, shot in the dark.

No, WB (although it's one of those "rare events" that pop in your head). Furcal did it for the Braves 2-3 years ago.

Just in case I wasn't clear (and I probably wasn't), those aren't the only times it has ever happened in baseball history. Those are just the only times it happened during that span of years - which was a notable dry spell for this particular accomplishment.

Perhaps it's time for a hint: between 1920 and 1961, this accomplishment was more common. It happened 15 times.

Then there was this relatively dry spell of 3 occurences in 33 years.

Then in 1995 it started happening more frequently than ever.
