Josh Beckett is way over rated

Guy is a joke. Gets bombed by seattle. All the clown boston fans on sbr will come to his rescue but his best work was done in a marlins uniform in 2003. Red sox are a joke. This guy is so hittable and he has gained weight over time. Beckett is not an ace. He is a product of hype. Guy will fade in the playoffs.

Beckett used to be a stud because he had an overpowering fastball and a filthy breaking ball. His stuff isn't as good anymore and he's been an injury machine his entire career. Let's face it - the guy hasn't had a good start in a big game in 4 years.

Not surprised to see you here first. Another clueless sox fan. Schilling beat the yanks with zona before he came to boston and played on philly before he went to zona. Just because he had that bloody sock in game 6 alcs in 2003 doesn't mean it was real. Loads of reports came out how that was bullshit. Keeping rolling your eyes. Wait until this years playoffs. Beckett will fade in the key games. God you are so clueless its sad. Last time I saw you post it was sox -230 ml vs kc on a wed aft with I believe beckett on the mound. I believ kc won. Lol. Squarehead.

He has great numbers in tough parks vs. good lineups though doesn't seem quite as good as the numbers when you watch.

when he torches your wager ticket he is pathetic, when he wins world series games he is lights out.

  12. #12

He won a world series w/ the friggin' Marlins and two w/ the RedSox, the guy might be a total douchebag but you can't deny his talent. I remember his performance a few years ago in Boston where he just DOMINATED the Angels, he did the same to the Yankies.
With that said, I still want to punch him in the face.

Had the over 2night so thank you Beckett, 5 runs in the 1st inning

He can still be good at times but I agree he is overrated.

  14. #14

This guy is just a bitter canuck who thinks he knows all and is the mecca here. Buddy your not that smart or great (just in nba)

I would chalk this Mariners debacle up with "Failure to give a damn."

Look at all he has accomplished at his age..............

.......................the majority of all GREAT players are overrated, in every sport, but it still doesn't take away from the fact the guy is GREAT.

Right about over hyped after a few big wins early this season. but think the yanks would take him if they had the chance??

    as a
yankee fan who lives near Boston, must disagree on this one, he is having a good year LB.... 7 no decisions, redsox cannot score for him.......

1 bad start and he is garbage?

Good pitcher who has always come up big for the Sox and Fish.

He's not as good as he's been this season but he's been one of the five best SPs in baseball this year.

A 2.17 ERA for a pitcher in the AL East in unheard of. Now it's 2.4 which is still ridiculous.

    WHIP of under 1.

One terrible start against an AAA club and all of a sudden people want to say he's not a good pitcher.

people sleep on the royals, yes they are a bad team but those mfers can hit and get on base, its the pitching that kills them

hes good- and remember when you fade beckett, youre not just fading him- youre fading all the redsox' bats also- i remember at one point this season they were on a 9 game winning streak averaging 9+ runs per game during it this winstreak.

Right on the money. My model had yesterday no vig line at -149 or so, it was a small lean on Boston but not enough to make a bet. The line was so high not for Beckett, in fact Felix projected much better than him. But the big difference was the bats. Boston bats project about -190 vs Seattle bats vs neutral pitching on a neutral field.

About Beckett overrated, the lines I have seen this season value him as an above average pitcher, but not as an elite pitcher. So, the market has been valuing him right, or even slightly undervaluing him. The fans posting him as one of the best pitchers in the game are wrong, but that happens often with fans of big teams.

I agree but when he was with the Marlins in the World Series, he shut my Yankees down "airtight". He's inconsistent. Sometimes, you'll get a gem out of him.

lakerboy, I agree with you 100% on this. Beckett is horrible. Needs to drop 20 pounds of flab in the offseason and rededicate himself.
