FUNNY OR NOT - Adam Sandler
The popularity of Adam Sandler is one of the great mysteries of Western Civilization to me. My vote here is obviously going to be NOT. But there is no denying the money his movies rake in - and another is on the way, Click.
At least it appears that he isn't talking baby-talk in this one.
What do you think of this dude?

I liked that movie. I might not go so far as to call it fantastic but I give it a thumbs up.
But I don't think of it as an Adam Sandler movie. I think of it as a P.T. Anderson movie that happens to have Adam Sandler.

At this point he is tired and played out. Certainly his movies were worth a laugh or two back when he was a novelty.

I'm going to be politically incorrect here concerning this boob Sandler.
First off, some of my favorite comediens and actors are Jewish. As many times as I have seen most Seinfeld episodes I watch them again and get a real charge out of them.
Let's face it,there is a Jewish clique in the entertainment industry where there are alot of untalented Jews that make it big in show business because the powers to be,the Jewish heads of studios and networks see to it that they help a fellow Jew out. This certainly is the case with Adam Sandler. If he was John Smith from Broken Knob,Indiana he wouldn't have gotten his front foot in the door of a movie studio. He would have been back from Hollywood to Broken Knob in a week and would have been growing popcorn the rest of his life.It helps to know the right people in life!

Sandler movies I've seen:
Billy Madison-Sucked (stupid concept, love story angle is lame)
Happy Gilmore-Has moments, but wouldn't recommend.
Big Daddy-Sucked (The kid sucked, love story angle is lame)
Mr. Deeds-Lame. Just lame.
The Waterboy-Has SNL moments, otherwise terrible.
Airheads-I want to like this movie, but it's just ordinary.
Little Nicky-The best one of the ones I've seen. This one has cult appeal, but on my sliding scale, probably a 5.5 or 6 out of 10 at best.
IMO, Sandler's movies have the "SNL curse", which means the movie concept would make a terrific 5 minute SNL skit, but is unbearable as a 2 hour movie. For example, "Night at the Roxbury".
I liked Sandler on SNL until he got played out on there. "Canteenboy" skits were my favoite of his. Otherwise his singing sucked, generally. His Halloween costumes for poor kids was kinda funny. "Hey, I'm crazy spoon arm. I've got a spoon for an arm, give me some candy!". Don't forget "Cajun man". Good stuff.
My vote is "No. He was funny maybe 15 years ago. Not anymore.

Totally disagree with the Jewish conspiracy argument. His movies have made 100's of millions of dollars. His type of humor is obviously genuinely appealing to a lot of people. People think he is talented. Not me - but a lot of people.
Simple as that. Sometimes you just have to accept that people have different taste.

I'm not sure people think he's talented but they certainly aren't seeing his movies because they're trying to help out the Jews. They see his movies because many people are low brow and his humor accomodates that.

Alot of people right off the street could be stars in entertainment if given the chance by the movers and shakers. One time on a bet or dare some recording executive said he could find the first guy off the front street of the studio to make a hit record and he found Gary US Bonds by chance who had no experience and he had hits.
Look at Paris Hilton.I can go to the Mall of America on a Saturday afternoon and find 500 women that look better and have a thread of talent where Paris has none. She had pull so now she's a celebrity.
I agree there is a conspiracy where even smart kids in school taking math and science are dumb and simple in many ways where they think people like Howard Stern and Adam Sandler are funny. There again you have democrats, liberal Jews and unions that have dumbed down american kids for their benefit. If we create kids that are good at one thing like fixing cars but are dysfunctional in all other aspects of life they are going to be droans that use the government and create a need for big government and the people who work for the government.
I don't blame people like Howard Stern for using his vulgar mind to make 100's of millions of $$$$.He's just providing entertainment to a whole class of people that were dumbed down and forced to think socialistically by the public schools. The government paid alot of tax payer dollars and put us all in debt to create an underclass audience that like cheap and vulgar entertainment like rap in this country.

okay as many of you know I am not a fan of israel at all (I am not really sure how anyone could be)...as it is pretty much a terrorist parasite nation that is ruining America (see this link for futher elaboration http://www.lrb.co.uk/v28/n06/mear01_.html. )
But i've done some research on this whole jews and hollywood thing and there is actually a pretty simple explanation as to why there is an overrepresentation of Jews in hollywood.
Quite simply, since there was quite a bit of widespread discrimination toward Jews in all sectors of public life in the early 20th century especially in employment, Jews were forced to enter in "unconventional" careers. Of course, in the nascent days of Hollywood it was nothing like it is today and it was seen as a risk to be in actor (remember motions pics and television were not yet established)....therefore Jews entered a profession that was considered a huge risk.
Eventually hollywood blossomed into what it is today and Jews became beneficiaries of the immense popularity of the film industry.
As to the charge of nepotism or something similar to that by jews...yeah I agree it probably exists but it is not much different than other groups in other industries. There are a lot of good jewish actors I like like ben stiller....lot of bad ones too. Anyway...i doubt many of these jews are too religious personally....although most are very supportive of Israel (i would bet) and not conforming to that view can lead you to some big trouble in hollywood like being blackballed. That's what you see so many anti-arab movies...and you see so many reference to jewish culture and jewish life in these movies...i mean if you watch a bunch of movies you might think that the majority of the country is of Jewish faith but your mouth will drop when you realize that there are only some 13-16 million jews worldwide....kind of scary the influence of hollywood and how it can alter your perceptions of reality.

I wouldn't say it's a conspiracy as much as it is a network....but there is no denying there is an overrepresentation of Jewish entertainment personalities while there are other groups that are largely underrepresented....even Jews acknowledge this.

Nobody has mentioned Anger Management co starring Jack Nicholson. That movie is a classic. Those 2 were hilarious together. I have to say I did enjoy most of his movies. I also really enjoyed 50 First Dates also w/ Drew Barrymore just like Wedding Singer which was excellent.

douchebag brings back a ****in 2 year old thread to chime his 2 cents. Since Im the forum douchebag as well, i guess I should say that I enjoy his movies and actually happy gilmore is my favorite movie of all time. I don't expect a movie that is going to blow me away or one that keeps me thinking hours after the show gets out. his old movies are classics. just as with any actor, he has poor movies like deeds, nickey, etc, you just look past those. And I think click was a thoughtful change for him. so **** you haters and **** this 2 year old thread.

Adam Sandler is NOT FUNNY AT ALL
Like the thread starter I cannot FATHOM how ANYONE finds ANYTHING Sandler say or does on film in the least bit amusing.
Every supposed joke or line would meet with silence in a room of humans watching. This is a greater mystery than the bermuda triangle, the fact that Sandler has a movie career - maybe the people are right about the jewish conspiracy thing - it makes more sense than him getting films due to his wit or delivery of lines.
I mean there is just absolutely nothing funny about the way he delivers lines, even funny ones on paper, although all the scripts are not amusing either.
I've seen a few of his clips, trailer and sat through alot of "little nicky" and some of the golf one i believe called happy gilmore this man is not funny in the least - the scripts are bad and he makes them even worse - anyone who laughs at what he does must have a very very very odd sense of humour
The Films are sh*t and he isnt funny, which is a serious problem for a supposed comedian

Love Sandler!!!!!
Happy Gilmore is one of my favorites of all time. Watch it anytime it's on. Big Daddy, Waterboy, Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates are good too.
But hated Little Nicky, Punch Drunk Love, Anger Management, and Click.
