Default How much have you lost or won in your lifetime by gambling?

I know some people that could gamble for a living but

I think I've lost 20k in 10 years...

now I'm sitting here and ask myself wtf am I'm doing, thats a down payment on a house or a bmw...

be honest, so I won't feel alone...

8 to 10 years over the net I would estimate anywhere between $6000 and $8000 bucks. Not much really when I look at my past W-2's. I wonder where the money is but gambling hasn't been my major problem. Almost the last 10 to 12 years of my life prior to the last 3.5 months I had spent at least $100 a week on beer and liquor and major stints of maryjane at $75 to $100 a week. I imagine I have lost atleast $40,000 in the last 8 to 10 years on alcohol and maryjane.

Lost 500 in the first year or so. All because of one game. Put 700 bucks on the Twins when I was going to "quit" gambling.

Money Management, ppl.

Thank god I bet 50 on the Titans +275 to win the division. Looks good.

I don't know how much but if I had it on a table in front of me so I could see it I would probably eat razor blades until i died of internal bleeding. I've been doin it a long time, most weeks for seven days-per-week, I try to limit it to weekends now. In the Uk you can't walk to the store without passing a betting shop, it's hard to avoid.

I guess overall might be down over 300,000 but had some very good years so the 300K is deceiving and plus the number extends over 25 years..

If you really think about it 10k over 5 years or so isn't that bad... Esp with the entertainment we get out of it... I have uncles who pay 6k a year to go deer hunt 3 hours away... Go every weekend. I'd estimate they spend about 10k on it a year. ridiculous.

Over the past three years that I have been betting on sports, I am up a few hundred dollars. It would be several thousand, but I burned through a $5,500 mutual fund about three months ago. A couple of times I have swung for the fences on all-in parlays of $1,000 trying to get $10,000 the quick way. Note to self: there are no quick ways that don't involve certain ruin.

So basically, I've consumed untold months my life in front of computers and TVs, eating bad food and drinking too much....for a few hundred bucks.

Up $2,700 is about 3 years. Mind you I'm a casual bettor that can make 30 bets a week or make no bets in a month.
I usually only bet between $30-$100 per game! I'd say if it wasn't for College Hoops I'd be a bit behind.

Up overall in online poker and online sports betting, but my lifetime gambling (all types) probably nets out to a $2k loss (craps, live poker, etc). If you count stocks/options trading, it is far far worse.

Before this year's baseball season, my lifetime losses were about $1,500 in four years of gambling. Baseball absolutely ate me for lunch this year, and I'd be very surprised if it didn't push my lifetime losses over $2,500. Like THEGREAT30, though, I find it to be chump change compared with my other vices. Booze, cigarettes, assorted party drugs are each responsible for more lost disposable income than gambling. Basically, I'd need AA or NA many many years before I'd need GA.
