Default Tuesday Thumbs

The purpose of this thread is to give tribute or scorn to things in the world of sports, betting or whatever. THUMBS UP or THUMBS DOWN .

I would like to start with a big :thumbs_up to SBR. I have been a mod here for a total of, I dunno, 5 months. I think the main reason I have been brought on board is to talk about sportsbooks and betting issues. That's my thing. And all I have ever done is say what I think on the subject of sportsbooks - good or bad - whether they be advertisers or not - and I have yet to have any SBR higher-up say a single thing trying to get me to tone something down or play something up.

No one wants or expects me to be a shill. SBR Forum is the only forum I would want my name associated with (well, it's not actually my name - it's my cat's name - but hopefully you get the point.)

:thumbs_up

to Blockbuster's relatively new "no late fees" policy. Ever since they implemented this, it's a lot harder to find the new releases I want on the shelf. Gee, could it be because, though the box says 2 Nights Rental, all the slackers have come to realize they actually have 9 days so they don't worry about making returns?

to sportsbooks that reject bets with a message that you're over the betting limit - but they don't tell you what the betting limit is. So you have to keep inching down and trying different amounts until you find what they'll take. Or else you can go way down and see if they'll take a low number and work up. In any case, it's just silly. There is obviously some number in the system somewhere so just display it!!

:thumbs_up To the kids in our local Little League who just completed their regular season. I can't describe how much pleasure and joy I get from the kids just being a small part of their game.

:thumbs_do To some of their parents.

:thumbs_up To Mets rookie Lastings Milledge --- Gotta' love the name! --- for celebrating his first MLB home run by high-5'ing some fans as he ran to his outfield position between innings. This is the kind of unbridled enthusiasm and association between the players and fans that MLB has been missing.

:thumbs_do To every media buttmunch who chastised Milledge for doing that.

To Blockbuster online - 1st I got the wrong DVD, then they sent me DVD's out of order from my queue and now I'm not getting any DVD's sent to me at all nor am I getting any response from Customer Service. They have 1 day to do something or I'm switching to Netflix

to Hollywood. I sent them 1 email and my account was adjusted without any further correspondence.

The place I have been seeing that lately which inspired that particular thumb was Royal.

I have ranted many times on that issue over the years though. I'm having a hard time remembering all the books. ABC Islands was one.
