Default Boiled Peanuts

Do people up North eat them?

Peanut season down here....hot boiled peanuts on every corner.

Yummy.

I'm from the South. Boiled peanuts are nasty. I like the ones Richkas eats. Only cows eat peanut shells.

Never seen a boiled peanut, let alone eaten one, we eat 'em the same way Richkas does, roasted - crack the shell yourself.

I like peanuts but like pecans even more, mmmmmmm pecans.

"seat tea" just sounds nasty, I'll pass on the seat tea.

Grits are also bad, but not as bad as seat tea.

Must be a southern thing, never heard of it or seen it here in Minnesota. Would be willing to try it if I saw it when I'm in the south.

nah, we don't do that up north...another thing i was wondering tho was, what is it called when you crazy mofo's from the south stand in a channel and try to catch 30 pound catfish w/ your bare hands...all the while never knowing if some snapper is going to have your digits for breakfast?

I was born and raised for 25yrs up north. The last 9 down here in FLA. No boiled peanuts up north. You can find them around the Tenn/Kentucky border on south. But Georgia,Ala,Fla,and southern coastal areas all have them. I can't find any boiled that I like. They are mushy as hell and no real texture. If someone knows a flavor that I may like let me know, because all my friends and their kids eat em like it's going out of style.
Roasted are ballpark/northern folk peanuts, as there wasn't many spring/summer days that I didn't have some when I lived up north.
I don't think I'll ever go for the sweet tea. Way too much sugar for me. I have added one or two packets of sugar to unsweet to find a good medium.

Cook up a batch yourself.

Not much too it.........half cup salt, water, peanuts.

Also subsitute 1 can chicken broth in water.

If you like them firmer...don't cook them as long.

I live in Georgia and it is, by far, a southern thing. It's not something that I have ever seen in my travels north.

when you make the tea put a cup( Ilike a cup and half) of sugar in it. ala sweet tea
boil the peanuts yourself if you dont like the ones bought. all you do is boil them for about 2 hours and keep adding salt to the water until you find the taste you like.keep checking them untill they're boiled to you liking.

noodling is fishing for catfish by puting your hand in holes/crevices under water.
I dont do it. I'd rather catch them with bait in deep holes. I go and catch a pile of brim about 2-4"s , put them on a hook and find a deep hole and drop it down.
thats how we fish for Apalusa catfish. We've caught them in the 40LB range before.
good eating too

Only to southern folk. They don't even sell sweat tea up north. Ice tea up north is sun tea. Unsweetened tea that is set out in the sun all day and then chilled.

We make unsweetened tea, and then add a few sugars to it afterwards. Strange, huh?

I live in the Savannah area, but I was born a Yankee.

Chicken biscuits for breakfast was another southern thing that I hadn't seen up north.

Boiled peanuts are just a soggy version of roasted peanuts. I'm not really into soggy things.
