Default Do you know what the most heavily bet sport on earth is?

I bet not.

A big timer in the industry enlightned me on this so I'm taking his word. He paid a research company for this and other semi-useless info. Maybe Crazy can send the first person who gets it a SBR shirt.

Cricket for sure. Hoopster and EMike got there first though. Bonus points for Hoopster since he is not from a cricket-playing country.

Nicky: Have you any idea how much money the asians will have on cricket? Individual bets of hundreds of thousands are not uncommon. And by the way, although I said cricket I'm not entirely sure but it is a heavily bet sport.

The question was vague then. Did SBR John mean legal or illegal betting? It makes a huge difference.

Yep it's absolutely massive. Amazing with the amount of match fixing that goes on. Case in point: Hansie Cronje

i never knew asians bet cricket too.. i think i am in trouble then.. ouch. i thought it was only played in india, pakistan and australia.. if chinese involved, this could be trouble.. 1.2 billion.. ouch..

however, horses is everywhere. it's worldwide, and everyday and the volume must add up like crazy.. and now it's on internet too.. and so many races going on every minute of day, non stop.. i dont know anymore..

in terms of volume, i still say HORSES..

I assumed you were born and raised in the US since I've only ever seen you talk about American sports. Maybe it was an incorrect assumption, maybe it wasn't.

Same as any other sport. Lots of proprs and individual stat bets as well as outright and asian betting. Pretty simple to bet on really.

I wouldn't classify horse racing as sports betting. If it is, then maybe it is horse racing.

Does SBR John's non-response mean the right answer has yet to be given?

I know that most countries have legal soccer betting. I know that most European countries have government operated soccer lottery which you basically pick 13 games and if you hit them all you get all the winnings or if you lose 1 or 2 games you split the winnings. This is in addition to the online sportbooks and the ones that have office books. We are talking about tens of billion of dollars every week if you add all the countries (200 plus) and thousands of daily games. Most countries have 4 to 6 leagues or competitions you can bet into.
