    Default any lontime SI readers?

greatest college RB thread got me to thinking about an article in SI, circa late 80s, maybe early 90s.

It was about a dad trying to turn his son into the prototypical college and maybe pro QB. anyone remember who this young man was and did he ever become a college qb of any renown?

Sorry, I can not help out on this one.

It would be interesting to know if the son amounted to anything. I hope someone remembers who it was. You got me wondering who it could be.

Getting my weekly SI used to be a real highlight for me but that magazine has gone down hill in the last 5 years or so even though my wife keeps renewing my subscription. Maybe I read just a story or two now when I used to read it from front to back. It has to be Todd Marinovich you are asking about daystrom. I tried to use that stuff about his father not letting Todd eat any fastfood on my son but it did not work. The old man should had told his son more about all the trouble he would get into with drugs and let the kid eat a cheese burger instead.

Thx guys. maybe he should have let Todd eat burgers & fries & humble pie every once in while. Either that or enlist him in the (Royal) Marines. If it could work on the bad boy prince, it could have worked on Todd.
