    Blown Call: Pirates vs. Braves (Official)

    I know there are too many threads on this topic already but I want to get all the evidence in one thread, right at the beginning where everyone can easily see it.

    "Even if you just use logic, you can make the right call. If the catcher missed the tag, he would try to reapply the tag. The batter missed homeplate by 3 feet but the catcher didn't care because he knew he made the tag with the first swipe. There's no way the catcher would have the wherewithal to pretend like he tagged the runner if he in fact did not, especially when he had more opportunities to complete the tag."

    At risk of stating the obvious why isnt there a appeal system in place like alot of other sports....each team gets 2 appeals per game. Would take under 2mins to refer the decision upstairs umpire, analyze it then give a decision....Doesnt have to be this difficult....

    1:28 does appear the tag was missed. so I can see why the ump called that.

    but how many times did pitt have men on 3rd and couldnt drive em in? thats why they lost.

    he will say he was tired and just missed it - oh iam sorry , bullsht fire his as. he makes way to much money to miss a call from 3 to 4feet off. if thats the case just get a fan out the stand to call the game and save that 380k he makes a year.

    Ump needs to get a serious punishment for missing the call, there should be serious consequences for his actions, just too blatant..............perfect example of why they need replay in baseball

    the giveaway is Lugo's reaction.

    If he wasn't tagged the first thing he would have done is looked at the ump and said the tag was missed. He didn't even try to argue or fake it. even if the throw beats a player and the tag is missed the player will immediately call to the ump, the fact they Lugo didn't tells me he was tagged, and he knew it.

    underrated in the whole ordeal is Proctor sprawling on the ground after taking three steps of the the box.

    The fact of the matter is that you give the Pirates the out even if there's a doubt in your mind if he actually tagged him. That kind of play is not the kind you try and make an epic call by saying that the "ole" missed him, especially in the 19th inning! YOU JUST DON'T! Imagine he called him out but there actually was no tag (missed by a few millimeters), do you think anyone would be outraged? NO! That would be the case where you say it was a blown call but a tough one at that.

    This is a sham and the ump deserves a suspension and no playoff designation this year. PERIOD."

    There isnt a ump alive other than this nitwit that would of called that guy safe!! Ball was there 2 secs before he was automatic out tag or not.. Its the same with double plays the guys receiving the throw a lot of times miss the bag but it is never called safe. It's an unwritten rule. This guy completely blew this call.
