The penalty was against SD, why wouldn't the TD stand? If this happened in the 3rd quarter, Pitt would decline the penalty and take the TD? It's a dead ball only if SD scores.

The ref misspoke on the ruling, I think the NFL adjusts this one. He ruled for it to be declined and for TD to stand.

i was not on either side of the game.... but they actually made the right call

after the offense makes a forward pass past the line of scrimmage and if there is any latteraling by the offense and then the defense recovers the ball... they cannot return it any further than where it was recovered


what i just dont understand is why they even reviewed it with 0 seconds left and they were all trotting off the field..... then they had to stop them from kicking the XP....... then they called it a TD.... then they didnt.... dont they know all the rules? makes u wonder if these refs should be reffing any games to begin with

Any pass not forward is regarded as a backward pass.

A pass parallel to the line is a backward pass. A runner may pass backward at any time.

A backward pass that strikes the ground can be recovered and advanced by either team.
