I only live a few hours away from University of Minnesota Morris and when they won a homecoming game a couple seasons ago a student got killed in the after game celebration tearing down the goal post.Wow,that should have been a scene in Revenge of the Nerds.How could you attend the wake or funeral as a friend and not start laughing?What the hell would the reverend say in the eulogy?They could play the song,Drop kick me Jesus over the goal post of life.It's almost like the tv show Northern Exposure where Maggie's boyfriends all died and the last one died getting hit by a satellite.That or when George Allen died a week after getting gatorade thrown on him on a cold game night after winning the game.Seinfeld even used that one.Here's the link. www.doubleazone.com/2007/01/when_sportsmanship_fails_us.php

Were there ever any charges pressed in that, Brent? I was at the Michigan-Wisconsin homecoming game my freshman year at Camp Randall in 1993. The student section went to rush the field but there was cemented metal fencing at the front, with about a three foot drop to playing level. I was probably 50 rows up and the pressure from everyone pushing snapped the rails and sent students in front tumbling down. Some were caught under the fencing as the push of the crowd from behind forced you to move forward. My leg got caught in the bleachers and I thought it was going to snap. Luckily, I pulled it hard enough and only lost a shoe. The people at the bottom weren't so lucky as we were forced to trample them to ensure our own safety. You could hear them screaming in agony as you stepped on and over them. It was truly one of the worst experiences I was a part of, especially since it was supposed to be such a momentus occasion after beating Desmond Howard and the Wolverines.
