Default Best Backup QB of the year

Matt Cassel

Kurt Warner

I go with Matt Cassel after last night , after seeing him rush for over 50 yds and pass for over 300 you could tell he was trying his best . And to me for a young QB he shows great skills and a good future.

On the other Kurt Warner is ranked 2nd in history for completions .. but he has been in the league since 1965 , tuff call but i go with Matt

Pats will get at least a 1st rounder for Cassel.

Cassel just because Warner isn't really a backup. No shock that Leinart is not starting.

I think Brady Quinn is the best back up in the league. He had a good game last week for his first start. 23-35, 239 yrds, 2 TD's. 104 passer rating. This kid will be the real deal.

I hear ya Panic, but for the year, Cassell has taken his team to more than a couple of victories. Until he wins a couple, I cannot call him the backup of the Year.

Nah one game doesnt make u anything .

He has potential but he will need at least 2 more season to get a feel for the league.

Cassel is showing great potential if he works on his arm strength a bit we could have a hall of famer.

He runs , he is fast and he has vision and he is becoming a leader. Props for him.

Okay...for the year....how can you not go with Kerry Collins? His team is undefeated.

Collins is a good pick. Even better than Cassel. I agree.

Kerry Collins still doesnt make a believer out of me . In my book they are the shittiest undefeated team in history.

They really are no dynasty they are just playing hard football nobody really taking the spotlight u could almost say BORING football.

Warner or Collins

Cassel was put into a solid situation. He has been ok but not even close to Brady.

I agree but we are talking about the QB not the team.

Things to take into consideration :

1. Progress
2. Skills
3. Leadership
4. Efforts

Those are just a few of the top of my head.

Collins is far from being a leader and his skills really dont make him shine

Deuce, comparing Cassel to Brady isn't really fair. Are you saying Cassel is less of a backup because the original starter is great?

No! That is a co-worker. The "other girl" wasn't there that night. She is in Boston. Her picture can be seen on another thread.

Pennington is not a backup. Orton is a decent choice, but still not up to the qualifications of Cassell or Collins IMO.

Cassel isn't really that good. He can make all the underneath or mid ranged throws, but what professional QB can't, aside from maybe Vince Young. He can scramble, but again most young guys can.

He has the best head coach in the game teaching him not to make mistakes which would cost his team to lose games, nothing more, nothing less.

He has done everything that has been asked of him. His team sits atop the NFL. Cant get any better than that. There isnt a coach out there that wouldnt take that with a backup QB....there isnt a coach out there that wouldnt take that with a starter.

Guy hasn't started since high school coming in to this year, Cassel is a good QB.

Lots of garbage QB's out there.

Washington

Houston

Detroit

San Fran

STL

Oak

KC

All would be better with Cassel.

Come on how is Pennington not a backup? Oh that's right he wasn't even good enough to be a backup with the Jets and was cut.

Pennigton is OK, efficient in certain systems but has no arm strength. A great dink and dunker, Cassel is better than Pennington but that's still not saying much.

Kurt Warner should be DQ'd too since he started week 1.

He sure did, but at the time, if you had asked me the same question at this time of the year, the answer would probably have been Brady.
