I wish TOW had this right "VIP to move to Costa Rica".
Which is what roberto reported today.
I would love to have them as a neighbor here in Costa Rica. But unfortunately Alistair just contacted me and said there was "no truth in it".

John,
i'm not sure which Alistair you spoke to. If its the one we both know then there has to be some serious miscommunication within the company itself.
My report is based on several employees that contacted me in the last couple of days, and its based on what they have been officially told by management.
Then again...it was public knowledge within Nine.com since a month ago or so that VIP was moving there.
All this said there's nothing wrong with reporting a major event like the relocation of a well known sportsbook.

They are going to combine marketing in CR with Nine and I guess that may be what you heard. Alistair was just at the SBR office in Costa Rica. I'd love to have him here because he is the only one I can count on to beat on the golf course.

Well, I'm sure your wishes will come true then.
Marketing was a planned move way back. Last to move will be Horses
I guess your golfing odds (and winnings) will definitely burst

We could always put a little wager on it. You say the start of football in your report... I'll give you to the end of the year for the ususal bet?

lol-my thoughts exactly. If Bertie ever gets something right, it's purely by accident.

Forget that this will be a one run "brawl" game only ... the "loser" will ask to make it a best of 3 playoff series with a poker and a golf matches.
Roberto vs John is a very nice "rivalry" but for me sorry guys the best "bookreviewwatchdogsites" rivalry of all time is ... John vs Russ ( with Ken vs Therx the 2nd best ).

In defense of tow, information is tough to come by and sift through. I can not imagine many industries where the information is almost all private. We have been wrong too and may be wrong this time.
Is Costa Rica really a better overall location for a sportsbook? Yes, wages and overall costs are lower. Curacao is a little more 1st world than CR in many respects.
In VIP's case I think they will look toward Europe and avoid being in CR keeping in mind that they already own a big operation in CR with Nine.com.

Tons of them. Last time I went there was two lines at the hotel, one for the guests checking in, another for the working ladies checking in. They had to check in with the hotel before they saw their clients. Young girls too, couldn't have been any older than 18 tops.
This has been a few years, maybe it's changed some, used to be young and cheap.

Vip management defuses rumors
"We have just negotiated to have our logo atop one of the historic buildings in Punda, we have 2 8ftx8ft billboards going up in the baggage claim area of the new Curacao airport, and the list goes on. VIP / Leisure and Gaming are not leaving Curacao" added Vip top management in our recent conversation concerning circulating rumors of a move of the group to Costa Rica.
Rumors have been ignited by the growing synergies in terms of services and human resources between the existing Curacao based facilities and recently acquired nine.com, located in Costa Rica.
|
Uh roberto, you are the only one that reported this. i don't want to get picky but an incorrect tow story i think does not quite qualify for a rumor being 'ignited'.

Roberto,
We bet on whether or not your report that: “VIP to move their operation to Costa Rica(from Curacao)” was accurate. In fact, VIP has not only not moved to CR but is moving all their operations OUT of CR and into Curacao next week. Could we go ahead and settle the bet up?

And if Berti gets a free 5mins to spare, he could remove BetBet from the industry leaders list. But maybe they are there for the laughs, it works for me *lol*.

You are confusing the site itself and the rookie books. It was all the rookie books that closed, not TOW itself.

We took on TheRx and TOW last year for a real money football contest. They talked better than they picked. Even with SBR hindered with having me on the team it was still not even close.
We even proposed playing just for charity but that didn't fly either. Ganch, Bill Dozer and those guys are pretty sharp. We will sucker,,, errr,,, talk someone into another contest one of these days.

Hey now John. The only reason I lost that contest for TOW last year, is because the Rams choked against Indy on that MNF game.
I could handle losing that bad beat. However, I couldn't believe I lost to "the prick" that week
