Curacao might be the most dangerous place you will ever go to, you need to avoid that place at all costs. San Jose is a great time, if you want to party and chase girls. But you cant let your guard down ever, its getting more dangerous by the day down there. Panama City, i havent been, but heard mixed reviews on, good and bad. Unless your planning on working in the gambling industry, why would you choose those 3 places to visit? Alot better caribean spots then Curacao, if you have to visit Costa Rica, the beach cities are very nice, and you might as well go to Miami rather then Panama City.

I was in Panama City last year pico. I felt fairly safe the whole time, but there are definitely some sketchy areas you wanna try to avoid.

couple of points

hookers are legal in all 3, so girls are no problem to find in any of them.

you got money and you look foreigner, you are a prime target which ever of the 3 you go. safety wise costa rica might be the safest.

imo, panama is the most fun of the 3, different style and party life.

girls, gonna find more white in costa rica, gonna find more black in curaçao. in panama you gonna find a good mix with blacks a bit predominant, and the benefit to find lots LOTS of colombianas which you can never go wrong with.

marijuana not problem in all 3.

curaçao will be more expensive and its not that highly developed touristic wise.

panama will be more ghetto and will look a bit more shady, it might not neccesarly be more dangerous just look like it.

costa rica have a developed tourist infrastructure and will have more activity to do beside the mentioned.


I like very much all 3 and have no problem with them. i would pick panama 7 times out of 10, consider though i like the more rugged style and know the local lingo and fit in well with them people.

in the north, inland (la selva), there's a small city called Tarapoto. a great party city comparable to Salvador da Bahia. One of the hidden gems in South America.

i spent a few months in peru a few years ago, mostly in the mountains.

gonna head back next year and visit a friend that just moved back to lima.

never heard of Tarapoto. never been to salvador either, though i'd like to next year too if i have time.

Only place I've been on the northern Peruvian coast was Huanchacho. Not much there.

I like much more the northern cities than the mountains (la sierra). The coast (Ica, Chincha) are kind of cool been a bit different with the black population, but the best of Peru is in the north and inland. Chiclayo, Trujillo, Piura, Iquitos are all great places, similar in style to many Colombian places.

Stopped in Chiclayo and Trujilo.

I crossed the border in some remote mountain pass from Ecuador and spent 3 days in the back of a truck carrying tomatoes to get down to Cajamarca I think and then on to Chiclayo.




I spent most of my time there in Huarez. Beautiful area.

Tarapoto is east of Cajamarca passing la cordillera.
