Fix my computer, get 100 points

I got a nasty virus. By google searches I think it's something called Hard Drive Diagnostics. I'm getting these errors

Windows cannot find disk space - hard drive error

RAM memory usage is critically high. RAM memory failure

The system has detected a problem with one or more installed IDE/SATA hard disks

    Plus more

Nothing I find on google makes sense. I usually just do a system restore but it's not working this time. I tried it about 7 times under my normal user name and it came back ""Restoration Incomplete every time. When I try to do it under "Administrator", system restore doesn't seem to exist anymore and I can't even attempt it.

    Any ideas?

    man that sounds fukking annoying
for something like this, I say backup anything important (if possible)
and then wipe the system and reinstall
make sure u get a firewall and good AV protection

nvm after looking at what ICED posted I had something similar to this
it was annoying to get rid of but not to hard, if you can locate the virus files it should be easy to remove

i'm my no means a computer guy but I always do system restore like you mentioned but this one time the virus I got wouldn't let me do system restore so I shut down my computer and restarted it if safe mode, and then I was able to do the system restore. Don't know if that would work for you but worth a shot. I know how bad it sucks when your computer gets a virus, makes you sick trying to fix it. Good luck bud.

No, don't wipe out or reinstall anything. This is a simple virus, nothing big.

A lot of demons are hiding in the system restore part of the computer these days. Actually clearing out or restoring the computer will not rid you of them.

you can try this if possible..you might have picked up a trojan

    download SuperAntiSpyware free edition

    update it

restart computer and go into Safe Mode

    do a complete/full scan

also update your anti virus and do a complete scan in safe mode

Not really. He's going to have to download something like RKill first so that RKill stops the processes of the virus. If not, the virus would interfere with the cleaning. But I agree, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is the best.

Shit. Fix my computer and you get a thousand.
    -Lost administrative privileges
    -can't run system restore etc.
    - don't have access to any programs.
    - Can't download anything.
    - no type of virus scan/spyware scan/ malware scan is workable with the virus. They all report an error when you try to run.
    - Have no access to my registry editor
    - Already have a 2nd operating system installed on the computer to fix problems like this. Both operating systems are infected though.

Boot your computer into safe mode and run your anti-virus program(s)

If you don't have any program dl the .exe file from another computer and install it in safe mode.

Gentlemen, like I already said, this is most likely a Trojan, not a Virus.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/viru...ive-diagnostic

MalwareBytes is also useful for this

I always do it in safe mode to begin with. Not working this time. Usually works like a charm.

Just because something is easy doesn't mean it will work. Running Malwarebytes while the malware is still operating won't do anything.

I Had the same thing recently and a tech helped me get rid of it. apparently the virus hides in the system restore feature so that doesn't work. See if this works, worked for me.

    1. Download (free) and run to disable the infected process. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/down...ti-virus/rkill

    2. Download (free) malwarebytes and do a full scan/get rid of any detected viruses. http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebyte...-10804572.html

Well, it stopped all the pop ups and warnings but everything seems to be missing. My background turned red and the only 2 icons on my desktop are recycle bin and Internet Explorer. I would guess I had around 50 icons earlier today. I can't find programs like firefox, sbr poker, etc anywhere on my computer

Maybe system restore will work now that the virus seems to be gone?

Or maybe I have no clue what I'm talking about?

It's probably #2 but I'm gonna give it a shot

you need another computer, but you can download another operating system and burn it to a CD, then boot your computer up using the CD. kind of hard but can be used as a last resort.

once a trojan gets onto your computer it's nasty, make sure u got an active antivirus like Avast operating to prevent it next time.

but yea, kill the process first before running Super AS/Malwarebytes in safemode. System Restore wont do anything, trojan/virus is still buried on computer.
