Hardly original, but I'd have to say The Godfather and A Clockwork Orange.
Maybe I'd also throw in Raging Bull for good measure.

good movie rogue sad ending though, better without subtitles. they screw up the translation. the same directer made a couple of the harry potter movies i believe but i could be wrong

As an aside, while it's certainly not the best movie I've ever seen, I definitely recommend Roberto Benigni's Life Is Beautiful, an Academy Award-winning (Best Foreign Language Film) screwball comedy set in a World War II death camp.
It's a very touching movie, and while it might not make many critics' Top Ten lists, it's certainly worth a rental by anyone looking for a cinematic change of pace.
