Default can rays sustain hot bats?

is regression towards the mean a danger with the Ray's bats in this series? especially with young hitters that have not seen these NL arms before?

Upton's huge power surge in the playoffs? can this continue.. what about Longoria?

all in all in the postseason the rays are averaging a HR every 17 at bats or so... as opposed to 30 in the regular season.

Might we see a power out-age in the playoffs?

I will answer your question with another. Do you think Philadelphia's bats will remain hot after a week layoff? I am gonna hammer the Phillies team total under if you know what I mean.

I think layoffs are way over-rated or talked about in sports..

after playing close to 200 games from march-to mid october...a few days off does wonders for the body... if players can take a lay off all winter...come in and be hot during spring training..(and every year there are players that hit over .400 during spring training) then they can be okay after a week off, after 7 months of playing everyday.

The reason i asked the question of the Rays bats and not the Phils is, because I don't think the phils have a player like upton that is playing so freakin far over his head.

if anything i think some of the phils stars didn't hit that great this post-season....

the phils have the edge inthe bullpen i think, and maybe a slight edge in the SP department, depending on how moyer comes back from his last game

Remember what happened to Detroit a couple of years ago?

Very hot until a week off, then Cardinals crushed them!

I agree!

could happen... but we also don't really know if it is directly attributable to the layoff..

I think in general we as cappers/bettors think we have more insight into how a team/individual is gonna react to certain situations. I beleive there are some strong trends out there to give some credence to. Things like fading a west coast team traveling to play an east coast team at 1:00.

but speculative things like how a team will respond to a layoff... I don't think a bettor gets an edge there......its basically a hunch play....and as human beings we tend to try to confirm our beliefs hunches...so we more easily remember a situation ie. detroit a couple years ago.. that backs up our hypothesis.

post season time, baseball can be difficult. handicapping a 7 game series,I think is a way different animal from 162 game season.
