Those are his pick-4 combinations - they show the horses he is using in each leg of the pick-4 sequence.

Think of the slash as saying "with".
So the ticket would be:
4 with 2,4 with 1,7 with 1,3,4,7,8,10

For a $1 unit, the total cost is $24. (24 combinations)

Here's an easier way to visualize it:

He needs the winner to be among his choices in each of the 4 races to hit the pick-4:

Race 1: #4
Race 2: #2, #4
Race 3: #1, #7
Race 4: #1, #3, #4, #7, #8, #10

Notice that he singled the #4 horse in the first race. In order for him to remain live, the #4 must win that race. He has some leeway in the next three races, since he is taking multiple horses.

and in the 2nd I realy like the 4 after watching his last race replay and at 10-1 ml have to take a shot.

I have hit a few and they are far from impossible however the pk6 is tough for small bettors almost have to have a real big bankroll for that.
