Default Does anyone remember "Leon" from the Bud commercials?

Anyone remember him? Well, he is a minor league pitcher these days and he was apparently traded for 60 cases of Bud.

"05/01/2006 Schaumburg Assigned the contract of RHP Nigel Thatch (Rookie) to Fullerton of the Golden Baseball League in exchange for 1 pallet (60 cases) of Budweiser beer.

That's the saddest thing I've seen in a while. I'd hate to be that guy.

I bet if Schaumburg had negotiated tougher, they could have got a few shots of tequila thrown into the deal.

Not sure I would trade 60 cases of Budweiser.

I wonder how often trades like this happen. That is too funny.

more often than you think. I've seen Kerry Litenberg(if you remember him..he was a relief pitcher) the Braves traded a few dozen balls and bats to his independent league team to aquire him.

One of the best trades...a relief pitcher for a jazz record. : P

another I remember is for like 10 pounds of some fish. more..that I think actually happened in the majors once or twice...a player was traded to a team for "a player to be named later" and the player to be named later was actually the original player traded.

I'm going to look up some more..but by FAR the craziest thing to ever happen I've seen or heard about is one game...independent league(or maybe single-a...but i doubt it) ..had the first 3 innings of a baseball game determined by MVP baseball 2005 on the jumbotron. 2 fans were selected pre-game and given controllers...and they played the first 3 innings of the "game" on the jumbotron..and after those 3 innings..the *real* game would begin..taking over with whatever the score from the video game was.

...crazy shit. I wonder if they put down the stats for players too? I'd be pissed if some fan added two strikeouts to my stats to knock me just below .300

google it and i'm sure you'll find the story somewhere
