Default Did you guys know I was an assistant coach @ Iowa?

I was, early 80's..........undergrad assistant.

Bobby Stoops was the starting strong saftey
Mike Stoops was also in the secondary
Kurt Ferentz was the strength coach
Barry Alvarez was the defensive coordinator
Bill Snyder was the offensive coordinator
Hayden Fry was head coach

There are many more coaches and players that many of you would recognize.

Bobby and Mike Stoops were in my "coaching of football" class, as well as many other classes. I will never forget how pissed I was to recieve a "B" in this course.

Just a few of the coaches under Fry.......

Kirk Ferentz, Iowa, 1999–present
Bob Stoops, Oklahoma, 1999–present
Mike Stoops, Arizona, 2004–present
Bill Snyder, Kansas State, 1989–2005
Barry Alvarez, Wisconsin, 1990–2005
Bret Bielema, Wisconsin, 2006–present
Dan McCarney, Iowa State, 1995–2006
Chuck Long, San Diego State, 2006–present
Jim Leavitt, South Florida, 1996–present
Bo Pelini, Nebraska, 2008–present
Fishhead, SBR, 2005-present

I was very good friends with Barry Alvarez, and in fact, spent Thanksgiving at his house one year.

Barry Davis, who is now the head wrestling coach at Wisconsin, was one of my closest friends when I attended Iowa.

and here's two somethings most college football fans do not know

hayden fry was nicknamed "the silver fox"

and

the visiting locker rooms at iowa's home stadium are painted pink inside, because coach fry was big into psychology, and felt that the pink color inside softened up the opponent

fishhead, are you impressed in the slight by this knowledge?

My first wager of at least $1,000($1650) was on the 1982 ROSE BOWL.

I took Iowa -3...........they got hammered 28-0.

He's got better things to do than respond to a piss-ant like you. I don't as the game I've got action on I've got a very safe lead so I got the time. Like him or not, the guy's done the damned thing and has forgotten more than you'll ever learn and know for wagering. He's one sharp fvcker although at times he tries to play that part of his game down and you'd do well to shut and listen. Have a nice day.

Probably not, for many reasons.

4. Lots of sports action on TV

3. Have some live auctions I have to attend

2. Need some quality time with girlfriend

1. ......and the #1 reason is that the last few months I have royally sucked donkey balls in the poker arena.

Fishhead knows his stuff. Boys listen and learn. I'm being serious here. I only wish all of you could spend a few months or years at watering holes and sporting events with our boy as I have had the priviledge to do.

The man is a genius. However he is grossly unconventional, unusual, and unorthodox in his approach to sports, gambling and winning in the game of life. He can go over the edge at any point in a given evening, morning or afternoon and is the epitome of a loose cannon. And of course he must be securely tethered as his beer count goes up. As such, he can quite accurately be described as THE GONZO GURU OF GAMBLING.

You are full of shit.

You didn't do shit for Iowa's football team (unless you were the janitor).
