    Default Oasis

SBR Bill Dozer reports: Oasis receives further downgrade from C+ to C- due to unjust bonus confiscation. SBR has received valid complaints from players who have had their reload bonuses revoked when nearing completion of the roll-over requirement.

I played there last year after some cold calls to me. They were pitchin 25% bonuses (i think) I never had a problem but if they mugged me after all that phone call bullshit I might have to catch a flight to ______________ (insert location here).

    They are in Curacao.

Good move by SBR to downgrade them. This behavior is horseshit.

Why do people waste their time at these books, when you have places like the greek out there? I told you guys about the problem i had with oasis, never again, stick with the tried and true. The greek does the reload bonus's every now and then too so no reason to go anywhere else

Only problem with TheGreek is that bases are unplayable there. They have a 20 cent line.

I do not think you can group Oasis with other type of unkown books as they have been around for a long time

The Royal have also been around for quite a while as well. On that basis, I'll send them 5 dimes tonight.

Oasis is an old school book that hasn't really evolved with the rest of the survivors.

Back in the day, being a wiseguy meant you were betting steam and the line was actually flying in one direction everywhere. Bonuses were taken away from a few of those players but they didn't complain much because they were taking advantage of some easy money and they knew they were actually "wiseguys" with real inside information. They knew the bonuses weren't earned until the money was in hand. They also knew books were doing what they pleased as the player voice was very soft. Was that fair? Not really, but that was the standard.

Today, every market trader who is watching Pinnacle's dynamic lines or a livelines screen is considered to be a "wiseguy". Most books know that the game is completely different today and do not apply the rules that came with big phone-in operations to the SBRlines generation. Most will prorate bonuses or let the player finish his roll at lower limits.

Oasis refuses to conform and accept the overhead that comes with the advanced online player. Players who are not close to "professional" are taking a monetary loss by joining Oasis and then having the incentive ripped away. I see this as a player agreeing to join a reduced juice book at -107 and then the house debiting the account for 3% juice on all graded wagers after deciding the player is too good.

Today "wiseguys" do not know what a wiseguy is and steam bettors are basic line shoppers. The subjective rules are simply not enough for Oasis to confiscate funds. We are still hopeful that Oasis will rethink their policies and return funds that players have earned.

Dozer- This is one of your better posts. Now please explain this to the so called that are posting here.

Has Oasis been doing this for a while? I thought that three books in Curacao that are top notch are Pinny, VIP and Oasis.

Good post, Bill. That's exactly as I see it.

When I want to buy a CD, I don't go to the high street and buy from the first store I see, I look on the internet and I compare pricesand go with the cheapest retailer.

I do the same when I'm placing a bet. If that makes me a wiseguy, then I'm a wiseguy. I don't think I'm a wiseguy, I just think that I've got common sense in not wanting to throw my money away unnecessarily.

Yep, pretty much sums it up. Alot of books should read this thread. There are lots of books I would not have tried if it wasnt for the bonus. Pinnacle or Canbet would have got my action instead.

Now that I think about it I would not even have joined Canbet if it was not for the bonus so the bonuses work sometimes. I am living proof!

Do not say it too loud -- Oasis has -107s wednesdays.

I have always liked this book. I've met the guys behind it in Curacao and they seem like fine folks. It’s a shame that they not step up here and make this right and take steps to prevent a reoccurrence.

Well.....I might have to disagree on the "fine guys". Oasis was formed by a crew coming from Paradise and the owner of TISS, the first location where all Curacao based sports books resided back in the 90's.

Word of mouth wants that they took off thanks to the lists provided by the owner of TISS, who was servicing all books back then.....

Some "strong opinionated" insiders tend to classify these kind of actions as "piracy".....

Bottomline after these rumors started circulating all books but Oasis migrated from TISS.....

I don't know about word of mouth in the mid 90's but I do know those guys and they are decent. Also many of their employees now work for Pinnacle and VIP. You didn't meet them when you were in Curacao?

I wonder if it was original crew

A lot of their talent is now at Pinnacle. They did have their own software but I haven't checked lately. To me they were always decent and average. I think their highest rating was B-. It looks like to me they are being hard headed here and someone over there needs to step up and make things right.
