i want to know how to understand total bets for all sports, i don't know how to read them

i understand the concept, but, i just dont understand how some team can score 2.5 goals in soccer? elaborate please

2.5 is the line. 3 or more goals and the over cashes. 2 or less goals and the under cashes. Not complicated.

This is not true do not listen to him,the half point is when the ball is headed into the net,a goal off the head regardless of where it ends up in the net is a half goal.

for example, a line that says over 3.5 , this means that to win, the total goals scored must be 4 or over, so, if the total goals is 3, the money is refunded back into your account, and if the total is 2 or below, you lose your wager. is that correct? if so i still don't see the point of adding the .5?

OK, there is a simple reason there are .5 goals in soccer betting especially, namely two-way and three-way betting. With half a goal there are only two possible outcomes, hence less juice, whereas without the half goal there are three outcomes, win, lose and push, thus giving completely different odds, and subsequently giving a punter far more options for his money and for the way he's capped the game. Two-way and three-way.

It becomes silly when a book posts different numbers on the fave winning on a 3-way line as opposed to the fave -.5 goals. Same wager, different words, but way too often, different odds.

Different odds for very good reason. In three-way you have the chance of a push, in two-way it's 50-50 minus the juice, hence a better two-way price. Three-way is for people who love the push option, especially in a parlay, two-way is for gamblers.

Numbers like 2,3,4,5,6, etc can be pushed if thats the number at the end of the game. numbers like 1.5,2.5,3.5, etc can not be pushed because of the .5 thats there. Either a winner, or a loser.
