Default BCS Championship Rules?

Is it possible to have 2 teams from SEC in the BCS championship game if both end up 1 and 2 in final points system or is it prohibited by the rules?

I don't think there is a restriction of that kind in regards to the computer aspect of things, however I don't know how the voters will vote though either.

You can have two teams from the same conference. However, right now, Big 12 vs. SEC looks likely -- and if teams start piling up losses, don't dismiss BYU's chances if they go 12-0.

Yes...but it won't happen since the SEC has their own Championship game for the conference, the loser will drop a couple spots no matter what...It will be the SEC champ vs the Big 12 champ most likely

I'm not saying it will happen. I was just curious to see if there was a rule prohibiting both teams from same conference to play each other in BCS assuming they both end up 1 and 2 in computer rankings.

Let's say Georgia goes undeafeated and LSU has one loss. They both meet at SEC championship and LSU beats Georgia and they both end up with one loss. They can be 1 and 2 in computer rankings.

Mr.Pavy, You keep mentioning Georgia when you should be mentioning Florida.

Georgia beat Florida last year with a much inferior team. They will beat them again this year. They got their number now.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Penn St. challenging for the BCS title at year's end either. There certainly won't be two undefeated teams coming out of the SEC this year...

Funny thing is... There may not be an SEC team playing for the title if they all beat each other up...

No Big Eleven team should make it, but if they do, you should make money betting the other team.

There are no rules against it Pavy, although I now think it will be Oklahoma vs. SEC Champion, which is justice in my eyes considering that USC would have gotten automatic bid if they went undefeated.

Thanks LT. It's still early to tell who will make it. The SEC vs Big 12 champion seems the most logical choice at this point.

i think it is way to early to count out USC still being able to play for the national title. They very well still can run the table, and if they were going to lose this is the best time of year to lose. Nobody will remember this loss by the end of November, especially after the SEC is done beating up on each other and Mizz/Okl each slip up. There should be a rule stating that no team should play for a national title after they lost to 1 of the 2 worst teams in the league (Ore St will still end up bottom 2 in Pac 10).
