Default Potential President of the US gets passport last year

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080918/.../hagel_palin_2

WASHINGTON - Nebraska Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel said his party's vice presidential nominee, Sarah Palin, lacks foreign policy experience and called it a "stretch" to say she's qualified to be president.

"She doesn't have any foreign policy credentials," Hagel said in an interview published Thursday by the Omaha World-Herald. "You get a passport for the first time in your life last year? I mean, I don't know what you can say. You can't say anything."
This is what is wrong with America. Why in the fukk you wait till you are 43 years old to get a passport? I had a passport when I was 6 years old and I wasn't planning to run for VP of America.

You'd better get one if being the leader of the free world is in your future endeavors.

It wasn't in Palin's case until Aug. 29.

It is unacceptable for the only governor in the US 50 states that shares a border with 2 other countries not to have a passport. She technically couldn't drive into Canada or cross the Bering Strait to Russia from her own state.

To drive into Canada you don't need a passport, and until recently, you didn't even need one to fly into Canada.

What does having a valid passport have to do with running the free world? She is a beautiful woman living in one of the prettiest places in the world, raising a family and married to a fisherman? Tell me what is missing in her life that she needs to leave the country. People that travel all the time are just compensating for lacking the instincts and priorities necessary to creating a warm, loving home. And if she did need to go somewhere, why wouldn't she just hop on her husband's boat? Get a life people, this woman is freaking awesome!

Having to be away from the country for months at a time is one of the most tenuous tasks of the VP. Unless you think that when Cheney meets the Sheik of Dubai on TV is actually done in Universal Studios with paid actors.

She needs to learn a lesson from Dubya. If it wasn't for his extensive world travels he could not have achieved the deftness at dealing with foreign cultures which is such a fundamental and glowing part of his legacy and has led to America's current status as, "Wholesome neighbour to the world!"

She has never met a foreign head of state and first traveled outside North America just last year.

Miss America has met more world leaders than VP Sarah Palin. I can see this headline when she becomes VP.

That is untrue. I can drive or walk into the US without a passport from Canada. I cannot fly there. US citizens driving here do not require a passport either. I only recently got one as I never needed one to travel to the spots I love going too. I've been to Bahamas 3 times and I don't require a passport to go there either.

Pretty bad when Chuck Hagel is condemning his own party's VP nominee...

When Couric asked how Alaska's closeness to Russia enhanced her foreign policy experience, Palin said, "Well, it certainly does because our ... our next-door neighbors are foreign countries." Alaska shares a border with Canada.

Palin didn't answer directly when Couric inquired about whether she had been involved in any negotiations with the Russians.

"We have trade missions back and forth," she replied. As she continued, Palin brought up Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

"It's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where — where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is — from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to ... to our state," she said.
What am I missing here? Are all Alaskans that dumb and ignorant or is it just Sarah Palin
