I just remember the rest of the school day meant nothing and we all watched the TV to see the developing stories... it was awful, ill never forget it

Oh shit, I was in 10th grade spanish as well. Teacher turned the TV on we saw the second plane hit, principle came on the P.A. told everyone that had family in the New York area to come to the office to contact them, teachers were ordered to turn the tv's off. Rest of the day we were in a lock down and no one was allowed to leave until local police advised us it was safe.

I was at work. Someone came in and asked "Are you not listening to the news?" Turned on the radio in time to hear about the second plane hitting the Towers. Listen to the news and searched the internet all day for anything further. Stayed pretty numb until driving home that afternoon and the radio station played "God Bless the USA" so I had to cry the rest of the way.

At work trying to push some designers to get a new wireline truck design finished so I could write up the spec papers on it. We obviously didn't finish it that day.

I remember it was a beautifull Tuesday morning, and I was at work in a meeting with people from Germany about the new Land Rover. The Germans were the ones that said that one of the twin towers in New York has been reported to be on fire. I turned on the T.V. here at the office just in time to catch the second plane smashing into the second tower. At that moment, I instantly knew it was a terrorist attack and they got us good. I never expected that even with the fire that the towers would fall. If you have ever been to New York and specifically in the twin towers, they really were pretty ugly buildings and un-remarkable except for the fact that they were super tall. The buildings themselves were constructed to maximize floor space for all of the Wall Street firms. That doesn't change the fact that they will forever be remembered in this horrifing event.

You know.... I've grown to really hate this topic but this question is a bit differant...

I was watching Monday Night Football the night before and it was the BRONCOS AT RAMS (blowout).... I fell asleep with my projector on and I woke up to "THIS IS AN ABC NEWS SPECIAL REPORT".... I was thinking "WTF is this bullsh*t about now..?" They showed WTC1 on fire and I was like... "oh ok a little action here" so I reached and grabbed my bowl for a little "wake and bake"... I called my friends to tell them "It wasn't me... I didn't do it LOL.."

I told my client a couple weeks later that "Hey I don't know what you think of me but I'm not into any of that stuff"... He jokingly said "Oh I have no doubt you are not involved... Bin Laden would want someone who is on time and you'd show up at the airport at noon.." I'm a little late with some orders..

Good posts guys, very good RW.

I was working on SBR stuff and as usual had CNN on. I thought the first hit must of been a terrible accident. By the second I knew the world would never be the same. Like RW, I thought they could put out the fire and save the buildings.

A sad day. But as Pearl Harbor did in the only other surprise attack of this scale, it woke us up. We may be attacked again and again but we will never allow terrorist training camps to operate like we did pre 9/11.

If they suspend elections, I may have to shoot him myself, and a couple of others for democracy sake.

In CR at the time .... working at another book ... when one of the guys yells ¨Twin Tower going down!!!¨ we all freaked out and put CNN (on all like 20 TVS) and started watching how it came crumbling down ... we were all speachless, then a guy stands up and says ... finally someone has shown the US what it feels like ....

FCUK BUSH!!!!!!!! Why that asshole hasn't been impeached and jailed/executed, I will never know.

He is personally responsible for the deaths of 10,000 Americans on that day and since. Ignoring 8 months of intelligence warning of this very thing and he was too busy snorting coke to care.

I was on route 46 right near the Willowbrook Mall, all cars came to a stand still, we all were in utter shock. You could see so much dark smoke, The Mall is about 25 minutes from Manhattan.

I was a freshman, and my school was taking standardized tests during that time, and at least in my class the teacher knew about it but didn't tell us anything was going on until like an hour after it happened when the tests were over. Then we pretty much watched TV for the rest of the day.

I was on Route 80 where it meets Route 17. It looked like an atomic bomb from the dust cloud after the collapse.

We were listening to the radio while driving to my bus stop to go to school, i think i was in 9th grade at the time. I wasn't paying attention to the radio until my dad said I need to call my brother to make sure hes okay since he lives in New York. He was fine, but a very sad and tragic day that I will never forget.

I was in my Freshman year of college. When I woke up, my roommate had footage of the first tower burning on the TV. I seriously looked over and asked: "What movie is THIS?!" She told me it was the news and a plane had hit the WTC. I was still too half asleep to even process what was going on...I guess I was thinking: "Damn, that pilot is getting fired...well, he's probably dead, but he'd get fired if he wasn't." So I packed up my things and went to class. The professor was 15 minutes late and dismissed us as soon as she showed up. It was about that time everyone started talking about it being a terrorist attack. Then my dad called me freaking out thinking that they were going to attack college campuses too (though I doubt the small state school I was attending would even register to them) and came to get me. I spent the rest of my day watching the TV with my family.

I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was sitting at my desk in the newsroom talking to my friend Lori - our desks were side by side and we could hear the TV in the newsroom, but couldn't see it when an announcement came that a plane had hit one of the World Trade Center Towers. The week before, someone had parachuted onto the top of the Statue of Liberty; both Lori and I thought this was a similar stunt, thinking that the plane landed on the top of the Trade Center, not that it had flow directly into it. When the second plane hit, we were up out of our chairs and the newsroom broke into action. By 3 p.m. that afternoon, our paper had put out its first-ever "Extra" edition. I felt at that time such an overwhelming urge to help, to do something. Having my job that day and being able to help put something into people's hands that they could hold on to made me at least feel like I was helping.

The tragedy of that day should never be forgotten by anyone, American or otherwise.

where were you when you heard about the 5k troops dead, the 50k injured, the 300k with PTSD and 500k dead iraqis since 911's memory was used to start a bullshit war

as long as we are mourning the day of 911, lets not forget to mourn all the horrific events that have happened by using that date

I remember the day.

Woke up late, turned on the tv. Still groggy eyed, I didn't believe what I was seeing was real (tall building burning with plane lodged in the side).

I was in college and had gone out drinking the night before. I was struggling to get out of bed for class. When I woke up, both of my roommates were in the living room watching the coverage. The first tower was burning, then all the sudden the second plane smashed into the other tower. We were speechless, outside of two words, "Holy f\*\*k!". Going to class was no longer an option. We watched as the towers burned, as people jumped out of the windows of the building to avoid burning to death. And our hearts sank as the first tower crumbled. Who could possibly be that psychotic that they could justify the murder of thousands of mothers and fathers, wives and husbands, friends and colleagues as they were simply working to feed themselves and their families? It was a heart-wrenching moment, but it became more difficult to stomach after you heard some of the stories of those individuals, as loved ones stood on the streets of Manhattan holding signs up of their husbands and wives in desperate measure pleading for someone to acknowledge their whereabouts. The following day, after Poli Sci 302, I went to get some lunch. I bought a copy of the local paper and on the cover was a beautiful young woman in tears, not much older than I, who held a sign up with a picture of the husband she had married two weeks prior. I just thought about how much she was looking forward to in her life with him, kids, a house, growing old together, and sharing all those simple things in life that make you love being here on Earth. All that had just been shattered. I just broke down right in the middle of Burger King, while eating a Whopper. It was certainly one of the saddest days this nation will ever endure and it saddens me greater when people use this tragic event as a scare tactic, to twist and distort the truth, or to take away the very principle freedoms that this great country was founded upon.
