The Vikings have five quarterbacks on their roster: Tarvaris Jackson, Gus Frerotte, Brooks Bollinger, John David Booty and Kyle Wright. Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell is impressed with how hard all five have worked this offseason. "We have great competition going on there, and they all look better because of how well the guys are beginning to know the system, where the ins and outs are and going where they need to with the ball," Bevell said. "I think they're doing a great job. They've come in, they've worked hard, they've picked up the system well and it's just a matter of getting reps for them right now, with the number of quarterbacks we have." -- Star Tribune

Jackson ain't bad, Ferotte is washed up, Bollinger sucks, Booty will have to prove himself, Wright should be on the practice squad.
I personally think this team will be good this year though, they got a shot at winning their Div.

Peterson will have a sophomore slump, and the Vikings will struggle.

I would agree with that assessment looker. I mean you just have to assume that teams will stack the line in order to stop him.

You cannot go far in the playoffs without a good quarterback.
Vikings do not have a good quarterback.

Tarvaris Jackson - starter with a very short leash
Gus Frerotte - #2 qb who is old but might be ok as a system qb if Jackson doesn't step up this year.
Brooks Bollinger - cut.
John David Booty - #3 qb who would make my list of cuts over the others because he's the only one who hasn't been proven to suck yet. he could slide up to #1 by the end of the season if things go really bad for Jackson/Ferotte.
Kyle Wright - cut & maybe try to get him on practice squad depending on his performance.

98 Vikings best offense ever. Patriots laid an egg in the superbowl.
I think it's going to end up 1. Jackson 2. Booty 3. Frerotte
I'm tired of seeing old, washed up QB's starting for the Vikings.

i just think because last season was his first season getting alot of starts and the receiver corps are young, he needs time to develop, i look for him to make some good improvement this season, especially if he has spent some time with the receivers in the off-season.
i'm not saying he is a pro bowler, but with the O mainly leaning heavy on the run because of the talent and size of the line last season and the receivers being young, i think that is why he didn't throw a lot.
they should be better this season is all i'm saying.

There have been some bad QBs deep in the playoffs. Anyone remember Shaun King? How about Kordell Stewart? Both of those guys were in conference championship games.

I completely agree.
Gotta cut the kid some slack. I mean, he's a young guy and has had some tough knocks so far in his early career. He's got an incredible line to play behind, not to mention one of the best running back tandems in the NFL right now. His WR corps will be improved. Not to mention a defense which should always have him in the game. If Jackson can just manage the game similar to Kyle Orton for the Bears a couple years ago, this team can win the division. I don't think that's asking too much from this talented kid.

I'm not totally sure, but I think he is still under 16 total NFL starts. What do you guys expect? You were saying Peyton was going to suck, too? Get a clue and come back and talk football.
