Just about every pre Super bowl show from Phoenix shows ESPN people complaining about the cold. Apparently they expected the desert to be always hot. This time of year you won't see any locals sitting outside at night like 'Mike & Mike', but ESPN has set up camp for the week in the fresh open air.

So, just for ESPN, the desert is hot during summer days, and freezing during winter nights. It is a place of extremes.
