After Those 2 Games I Quit
After Those Games I seriously am considering
to quit betting on sports. Not because I was
wrong, but because I have realized there is
way too much luck invovled. I won alot of money
this year betting football. But these two playoff
games reminded me that I have been lucky. And
Luck changes. And just like in life some idiots win
no matter what they do and some intelligent people
lose, for example there is good lawyers that aren't
rich,or had bad luck and met a bad woman who took
alot of there $. I am sacrificing my $ on athletes
and Referres.Whoever gets the breaks is going 2 win.
Not the best team.Whoever gets the calls is gonna win
, and one play could change the game. I am tired of
depending on these athletes who do stupid things
like unnecessary roughness when the game is on
the line,or throwing INT's when there is 1 WR vs
4 CB's?? I am considering quitting. Cause we
might cap games and pick winners. But if things
don't go your way that capping goes out the window.

You won't be quitting IMG. If you're upset by the day, then you take it as an opportunity to stabilize your methodology. You know as well as anyone that it is impossible to be 100% on any pick and you have described the reasons why up above. Fortunately, to make money you only have to identify contests where you have a 55% chance of winning. Even a very good pick can only have a 60-65% chance of hitting. If you're really trying to make a living by capping, then you know it's a longterm undertaking.

I have terrible money management skills with gambling,I am a genius outside
of gambling with money management by when it comes to gambling I suck.
I bet more on Carolina than I should of, I didn't love Carolina,I bet them
like I did though. Well thanks but I really am toning it down, These games
are too wishy-washy. Funny I am saying this when I had the best football
season anyone could have but I realized that no one is good at picking games
,there is a 50-50% chance of winning, some people are just lucky enough
to pick the right side more than others..

Well you really dont have to quit img. Just slow it down some and dont do such high unit plays all the time. Set a unit structure with a best bet only going so high, like maybe 5 units. Do normal plays for 1 unit, and so on. But never go above 5, or what ever you could set as your highest possible units on a game.
Just rethink your whole bank roll management, and things will come back to you. No need to go for the nuts on each bet. Thats like those sluggers that try to hit homers every at bat, thats why they have the highest strike out raito's.
But whatever you do, good luck with it.

Luck is a short term thing. In the long run it is about skill (including money management). But you knew that.
Good luck. I bet you will not quit betting on sports.

Both these NFL championship games were extremely hard to cap so don't beat yourself up too bad...I didn't bet on any of them anything. Although now I am pissed I didn't because I did like the Steelers and leaning Seahawks haha. Although I thought the Seahawks was gonna be a lot closer game and possible won by a field goal margin.
Carolina was extremely Jekyll and Hyde all year so I avoided betting on either side of them. They are the new Atlanta Falcons!
I liked the matchups a ton in the wildcard round and 2nd round were decent as well...but even when you have you think is a sure bet Indy will win by any margin that can kill you on occasion too! ;p

IMGV94, I'm feeling the same way.
I knew my sports betting would come to big slowdown after the NFL season. NFL is my true passion and betting on NBA or NCAAB is like eating hamburger when I really want steak. I'm going to scale way back on my betting and posting on here until the NFL preseason starts up again. I hit the NFL pretty hard this year and could use break.
This offseason I'm going to reread "Sharp Sports Betting" by Stanford Wong. I read it once, but there's still a lot of info in there that's essential to anyone betting the NFL. Next season I'm also going to keep very accurate records, track my picks and systems. This year, I was just winging it, mostly, deciding at the last second in many games. My approach was completely scatterbrained, but then again, I've never bet sports before this season, so I didn't know what I didn't know. Now that I've got some experience, I hope I can be very disciplined and scientific, using my knowlege and experience to pick consistent winners.
It's a learning process and we'll all have our ups and downs. I know you'll be back up IMGV94. You're too good to stay down. I think we all just need a break.

i totally agree.
don't kick yourself for making casual mistakes img, everyone of us makes them and will continue to make them, with experience and discipline one just has to limit them to the possible minimum

i have learned some valuable lessons about the nfl and tv.i've watched the last 10 playoff games with my brothers and we have all come to the conclusion that any time one team falls behind by more than 14 pts they will get the benefit of all penalty and replay calls thier way until they can close the scoring gap.it happened yesterday with the blatant flag pickup on the punt return, with seattle up by 17.also on the crackback blockdown in the red zone negating a 1st down and goal to go with seahawks up 27 to 7.i will never bet under in these games for that reason.

Im surprised to hear this from the guy who posted tons of "locks", so everything you posted was bullshit and i was right with saying it? Come on, you can admit it ^^
Maybe you realize now that im no "hater" lol, i just spoke my mind and that you were wrong with posting games that "cant lose".
Anyway, money management is worth NOTHING if you are addicted and bet every day. What really helps is balance, as with all things in life...if you feel like it take a week off - or 2 or even a month - and dont even log into a sportsbook.
Go out and do other things, realize that watching sports on TV all the time is BORING and STUPID. That will help.

And that's the way to do it.
If you're risking a sizeable proportion of your bankroll on 2 games then you're lacking in basic gambling skills whether you're hitting 40% or 60%. Either quit altogether or learn how to manage your money - whichever you choose is a very smart long-term decision.

It's always hard for people to quit. Most people will bet immediately once they get some funds in their hands again.

Because money management can be just another word for addiction.Make sure you always have your bankroll to gamble... that way you never have to stop...

Exactly. Using tout like unit bets is a sure fire way to self-destruction.
