Default pittsburg end of game strategy

was anybody else thinking like me that the pittsburgh steelers should have let the jags score a td with a minute and a half left on the clock and 2 timeouts remaining? pittsburg was down 1 point at the time and the ball i think was on the 11. you can play defense and take your time -outs and either hope for a turnover or a missed field goal or a chance for yourself to score with about 35 seconds after the field goal...OR.....you can act like you are trying to stop them on defense but instead let them run it in and get the td. afterwards, the jags would try for the 2 point conversion in which case pittsburg would be down by either 5 or 7 points with a minute and a half to go and 2 timeouts.

at that point in the game the steelers had had 12 drives with 4 touchdowns. in the 4th quarter they had started 3 drives and scored 2 touchdowns off of them. i believe that they had a better chance to win this game by giving up the td and getting the ball back right away. is there some unwriten rule that coaches are not to do this? in a win or go home situation, would any of the defensive players be upset with this strategy?

I don't think you could call anything the Steelers did at the end of that game a strategy. Their rookie coach just simply choked, really screwed them over.

That is the strategy that Green Bay used against the Broncos in the Superbowl. Gilbert Brown simply got out of the way and Terrell Davis scored on a TD run. GB then got the ball back with adequate time but Farve threw a pick. I do think it is a better strategy than calling timeouts and hoping for a turnover.

choked is the right word to use.... 3rd and 6 and you have Big Ben run a QB sneak? Hit ward on one of those slants and the game is over....

Bottom line is the jaguars are the better team.. Thats 4 or 5 straight losses to the jaguars for the steelers.. I won a lot of money on that game with jags -1... Thanks for that nice run on 4th down garrard.. Steelers blow..
