Default Pats have no class

Once again they run up the score, I hate the pats so much, Colts need to beat them this week and shut them up.

I love what Mike Ditka says about this. His Quote¨If you do not want someone to run the score up on your team, Play a little Defense!¨ How true it is.

If I was a coach, I would run up the score every game if I could.

So I don't hate him for that.

Well with all the Sh*t talking that when on about them i think they are just showing this team is for real. Theres 60min to a game i think you should play like your behind for the entire 60min.

I think it's what all NFL coaches should be doing. I want my teams playing all 60 minutes. You don't ever take it easy. I've seen countless teams lose cause they have a nice lead and then they get conservative on offense and defense. They start doing prevent defense and they start running on every down and going three and out only to end up blowing the lead and losing. My Raiders have been guilty of this plenty over the years. I'm not a Pats fan but I greatly admire the way they play.

nah it was 38-0 and they went for it on 4th down. I am sure the Redskin tried to something about it but they are not good enough. I know from experience there is nothing worse than an opposing team running up the score. It just sets a bad example and it seems everyone on this thread so far disagrees with me but I guess none have you have played on competitive sports teams before?

Your raiders have not been up by more than 21 points let alone 38 since the Pluckett days.

Amen,

It is good to see the Pro players get embrassed. Lets us see if they have any pride or love for the game, or are they just getting a pay check. What happen to that great Washington Defense?

What there doing is fine, but what if Brady was to break his leg, blow out his knee, tear something and ruin the pats superbowl chances. Bellichek would look like a dumbass.

If you had a 2K parlay riding on the Pats and the over in that game, I'm sure you'd feel differently. I'm glad Belichick is playing ALL 60 minutes. NE had to damn near cover both sides for me because the Skins couldn't do shit!

For all the people who i challenged last week that were saying the skins would cover and some idiots were saying they might win along with all the people who picked the Rams have some balls and stay of the dam post. Now anyone who has a problem with the pats running up the score you are stupid, lets see they call you a cheater, they try to take away credibility from your past titles and doubt how good you are, plus every week so called experts and the general public keeps saying how you are going to fail just like how everyone said about the skins this week, plus the opposing coach sarcastically makes fun of your dominence (GIBBS) and now when you play INDY its so called good against evil. if i was N.E. i would do the same thing and even worse you challenge my talent my dedication and my knowledge as an athelete and i will punch you in the face. N.E. over INDY by at least 10 this week not a lock just a trend. INDY is the super bowl champs but it should not be DECEPTIVE that N.E. has won three.

Think about this for a half of second. It's 38-0 do you kick the chip shot FG and make it 41-0 or do give the defense a chance to stop you on 4th down and get the ball back? If the defense can't stop you when everyone in the stadium knows you are running up the middle then that is their problem.

Brady came out of the game with 9 minutes left and the Redskins couldn't stop their backup QB from scrambling for a TD, not to mention he ran over a defender on his way into the end-zone.

People need to quit whining and blame the defense that didn't show up to play or at best quit in the middle of the second quarter, not the team that showed up.

This isn't youth league football the people on that defense are paid hundreds of thousands and some Millions to keep the other team out of the end-zone and the guys on the other side are paid the same to get in the end-zone, their is no such thing as running up the score in the NFL!

Did you complain when the Boys ran up the score on the Bills in the SuperBowl? Did you complain about the '99 Rams? The 2004 Colts?

Well, considering Brady left with 9:06 left in the 4th yesterday. Played two series the entire 2nd half last week. Left the game with over 8 minutes left against Buffalo, I would say Bill is managing Brady just fine when they are ahead.

This is moronic. As a gambler this should be something you value and appreciate. I'm sick of teams not covering due to pulling out players, not trying etc.

I can't believe I'm hearing this complaint on a gambling forum. You should have your head checked.

I was on the losing end of a couple of scores when a team was really running it up, and being real a-holes about it on top of that. But the worst thing to do is whine about them running it up on you. File it away and pay 'em back sometime in the future. Cry about it and you've let them beat you twice.

I think it would be advantageous if more teams went for it on fourth down. At least in college a lot of the time the coaches know when they're outclassed and that they need to take some risks to have a shot. NFL coaches don't seem to realize that.

Of course NE didn't have to go on fourth to win the game, but I think the calls were sound considering distance to first, field position, level of opposition, etc.

All you people saying this is the NFL and run it up as much as you want are missing the point! New England is making enemies down the road when they don't have to! You don't think its easy to twist a ankle in a pile or go for a kill shot in a hopeless blowout. Why create ill will if you don't need to? The Colts regularly put on the brakes just like yesterday vs Carolina! I remember the 1985 Bears and while that team was alot of fun...they were so arrogant that other teams and fans hated them. Injuries cut short the chances to win more Super Bowls. Who wouldn't want to trash Brady's knee? 38-0 and he's still throwing TDs in the 4th quarter? Come On!!

So should the Pats just bench Brady for the entire 2nd half? Should they just take knees after they get up by xx number of points? Please explain what you would like them to do?

And the Colts don't regularly put on the brakes. How many times has Sorgi entered a game in the past few years with more than 8 minutes left? Brady has been pulled 3 times this year a lone with half a quarter or more left.

Indy when they score 40 or more and up but 17+ in the past 3 seasons is my premise:

2006

Hou (43-24) Up 30 - 10 still throwing and Rhodes runs it in for a TD. Later up 37-17 Manning throws a 30 yard TD pass to make it 43-17 with 2:42 left. Sorgi never sees the field.

Phi (45-21) Manning takes the knee to end the game. Manning threw a TD pass with 3:38 to make it 38-21. Defense returns a TD final score 45-21. Sorgi never sees the field.

2005

StL (45-28) Manning still in the game up 38-20 with 9 minutes left. Throws a TD to go up 45-20 with 8 minutes left. Sorgi enters the game with 3:23 left

Hou (38-20) Manning still in the game with 7:29 up 38-20. Manning comes out in shotgun. They run out the clock with a long drive that included going for it on 4th and 1 with 1:17 left. Sorgi never sees the field.

NE (40-21) with 5:53 left the Colts go for the two point conversion, all class! NE goes three and out. Manning comes in with 5 minutes left. Sorgi never steps on the field. Doug Flutie comes in for Brady.

2004

Hou (49-14) Up 42-7 with 12 minutes left in the 4th quarter Manning comes out with 4 straight passes (gets picked off). Up 42-14 with 7:47 left Manning comes out for another series. Doesn't get another chance to come back in after this series.

Chi (41-10) with 12 minutes left Manning comes out and drives down to the 18 yard line of Chicago and goes for it on 4th and 1 with 4:52 left. Sorgi cleans up with 1:37 left.

Det (41-9) Sorgi enters the game with 1:15 left in the 3rd quarter.

Ten (51-24) Sorgi comes in with 9:53 left. Up 48-21 with just under 3 minutes Sorgi passes on 3rd and 11 from the Ten 19(incomplete). The Colts kick the FG with 2:43 left to make it 51-24.

Only twice has Sorgi come in with more than 8 minutes in a blowout and that was in 2004. And in blowouts 17+ that didn't meet my criteria, he only came in twice between 2004 and 2006 both times with less than 4 minutes to play. And so far in 2007 he has come in once (yesterday).

People should not let the media cloud their perception.

Where was the claim about running up the score then??

To sum my point up I just think the patriots are disrespecting the game. There is a time to stop and I hope brady gets hurt next time they blow a team out and leave him in there.
