Thanks bro, I need some positive reinforcement after breaking the most time-proven gambling commandment last week (but still managing to finish ahead):
1) Thou shalt not fall for the squarest of plays (Cinci), especially when everyone (including me) is saying "there's no way Team X (Cleveland) can win". With no line movement and 87% of the public on Cinci, we all should have seen that coming. Even killed a teaser or two. That game stunk in a major way. Anyway, good to be back in the saddle. Let's line our pockets this week.

And yes, I trust Arrowhead and I don't mind going against the "don't bet on a team at home in September that lost its previous game" rule. Minny has a good run defense, but it also has no passing offense... i see a close game in which KC wins by 4-6. Something about that line staying at 2.5 (begging us to hit KC where all we need is a FG) scares me though. In the past, 2.5 means bet the dog on the ML (at least to me). It's right there with 10.5 point spreads (take the fav and lay the points) and 4.5 point spreads (stay away).

Well, I know you mean LJ and not LT. But what about the KC D stopping the Vikes running game? It will happen at Arrowhead and if the Chiefs give the crowd something to get excited about, do you like a pumped up Huard throwing to LJ (in the flats), Gonzo and Bowe better or a rattled, deafened Holcomb/Bollinger throwing to Wade, Williamson or Shiancoe... Personally, I like the former.

I've got the Chiefs.

Arrowhead is better than the average home field advantage, and this is their home opener. If this team has any pride at all, they will be hungry to win this one, coming off away losses to tough Chicago and Houston teams. I think they have sump'n to prove. The Vikings are a team they can beat, and I think they will find a way to beat them. Hopefully they will cover. My worry is that this game could be close.

The Chiefs' running game has been lame, and the Vikings' defense is stout. But, still, you have to score some points to win, and Minnesota's offense is in total disarray as far as I can tell. I see the Vikings scoring 10 or less in this game. I'm thinking the Chiefs will score more than that off Vikings offensive mistakes. That's my thinking anyway.

(Warning: last weekend my thinking lost me money.)

Did you see the KC-Chi game last week? I thought KC played Chi tough.

Did you see the Vikings-Lions game last week? The Vikings don't look real sharp, especially on offense.

Huard is a good enough QB to move the ball on the Vikings D. I don't see this Vikings offense having nearly as easy time against the KC D. I almost want to say this game will come down to defensive turnovers, and I see the Vikings offense being much more weak in that category as far as giving away turnovers. Holcomb might be this week's Derek Anderson, but I'm betting against it.

Holcomb is still, to a degree, learning the Vikes playbook. I still think he's a better play than Bollinger (duh) or even Jackson. That said, I do think there will be some mix-ups between WR's and Holcomb that could result in INT's. I just think that a home opener at Arrowhead is worth a good 6-10 points against a shaky QB who doesn't even know the playbook and hasn't started a game since 2005. An aging, immobile QB that hasn;t started a game since 2005. He will be shaky. I like the Chiefs the more I think about it. The only thing that bothers me is that damn 2.5 point spread. Does anyone have access to how often a 2.5 point home fav covered in the last 5-10 years? I'd be curious, as I usually read 2.5 to mean, in terms of Vegas thinking, "Go ahead and bet the home team. All you need to do is cover a FG and you're golden. We're not even setting this at 3 for a potential push." It's like they're begging the public to hop on KC. Maybe that's just my superstition and I've been burned a few times by 2.5 lines, but I would love to see some info...
