IcE's 2009 NFL Thread
Hello Everyone
My picks for the upcoming season will be a bit different then normal picks. I will be playing a system that goes against the bookies.
My goal for this season is 50+ units.
Please keep negative comments to yourselfs. No saying im retarted for doing this or this will never work.
Tail or fade at your own risk.
I will not reveal this system until the end of the season if successful. If you know this system please keep it to yourself. Thanks.
Lets have a great season and everyone to make some
BOL everyone.

actually no i would advise not jumping on considering the first couple weeks setup this system.
Also i advise to have at least a bank roll of 200 units just in case of a long losing streak.
Also keep in mine im still testing this system. Even though I still using real money i'm just trying to see if i can get 45-50 untis this season.

I hope i'm not being daft here but isn't a bankroll meant to be 100 units, i.e. each unit is 1% of your bankroll?
If it was 200 or any other number, wouldn't it be impossible to track how much a unit was relative to your opening bankroll figure?

not really if your unit is $10 then your bank roll sound be $2000. So by the end of the season if you have $2500 you would be up 50 units.

Regardless of your system you are literally throwing money away when you back both sides in a game with a losing result guaranteed on that game regardless of the result. Very very bizarre.

Please do not take this as a negative comment, but it appears you are scrapping really hard for a 25% gain on your money. At such a low gain you would do well to looking into selling covered calls in the stock market. They make approx 3% a month (you have to search for them, some are lower then 1 %), and if the stock goes down you can wait for it to go back up before you sell. Your chance of success is over 66% and you still own something if you do lose. Consistent sales of these call options month after month can net you up to 50% a year.
I will not turn my nose up at 25%, especially if it is consistent, but I am up 30% after week one, and that includes losing a couple of bets. (Steelers opener, and New England) It's not to say I won't get pummelled this week, but the attraction is the high amount of leverage that wagering offers. If you water it down too much than it no longer makes sense because there are safer ways to invest your money. In stocks you have ownership in a company, in real estate you have the equity of your property. In sports your wager doesn't go down in value, it disappears. If I am going to take that kind of risk I want some bang for my buck.
That being said, if a mutual fund manager consistently pulls 25% he's a hero. I am curious to see your results. I hope your system works better than what you hope for. Best of luck.

very nice write up arpeggiomeister. I am not scrapping at all. As the season continues there will be less and less bets. The stock market seems really boring to me that is why i bet sports, excitment.
