S.D. Chargers +5000
I have been a charger fan since they came down from L.A. in the early 60's. By far they have the most all around talent then any team in the NFL (with or without Meriman). + 5000 to win the super bowl I am willing to risk 300 to make 15000. I would like to get everyone,s opinion on the Chargers and there chances. Thanks and God Bless. DickyV

Thank's smitch we have lost so many close games playing less than average ball also by getting rid of our Def. coach at mid-season was not a good decision. If we continue to play as a team like last week and all of last season no team will have a chance.

Do you know if Caliente does money line parlays or money line bets? Also, how safe is it to go to Caliente in TJ to make bets?

no they do not offer money line wagers but they do have live betting on a select few of games each week where the lines are determined by the score of the game. Yes it is a very reputable book with 2 of them just steps from the border just check your tickets from cashier. Ive been going there for years. 6 beers in bucket for 10 bucks also.

Thanks for the info. How safe is it to collect your winnings and walk back to the border? Have you ever had any issues?

Not a good bet...this team will not win the SB, too many teams are better than them. I would say crazier things have happened but I can't think of any off the top of my head...save your money.

Without discussing whether 50-1 is fair value or not, the Chargers are definitely a team that can do some damage if they can get on a roll. They were in the AFC championship game last year for a reason. Rivers is playing like an MVP. LT is a former MVP, even if a little banged up. The team is solid and experienced. They certainly have the talent to go all the way, despite their record.

7 - 8 team, 4 wins against Oakland and Kansas City.
That makes 3 quality wins for them.
NYJ - Have since proven they can't play on the West Coast against ANYONE, losing to Oakland, San Francisco, and Seattle as well. (Home)
NE - Before Cassel came into his own, and extreme revenge game for them... (Home)
TB - TB was coming off of 3 straight division rival games and was slumping, I called this one easily, they just caught Tampa at the right time...
One quality road win (Tampa Bay, and again, I'd argue it was circumstantial) is enough to make you think that after they beat Indianapolis (hmm), they will go on the road to Pittsburgh or Tennessee (hmm...) and then likely the other on the road the following week and win both of those? And then, of course, beat the NFC champion.
Have fun I suppose.

Excellent write up, VegasDave!
I agree with every point.
I'll admit, I didn't call out the Tampa Bay upset last week. One might still make that case about that being a quality win, as well as the most recent evidence of how SD can play with their back to the wall.
The fact remains that all of that goes out the window, now. Sure, SD has made a mess of this season, but they are in the tournament, if you consider the Sunday night Denver @ SD game as the "play-in" game like I do. I love SD in that spot. Next would by Indy @ SD. Say what you will, but SD can give Indy fits, especially with the home field advantage. Then it gets tough for SD, going into Pitts or Tenn. But by then SD might be on a roll and might catch a much better team napping after a bye week. We've seen champions come out of the wild-card round for the last 3 years, so if SD can get rolling, who's to say they can't climb the mountain? They've got as good a chance as anyone else, IMO. They are not like the Cardinals, who have zero experience winning in the playoffs as a franchise.

I agree, anything can happen once the playoffs start. But this is not the Chargers team that you are used to seeing in the playoffs. That team had far and away the best running back in the league, and it also had a shutdown big play defense.
San Diego's passing defense is 2nd worst only to Seattle, averaging over 240 yards given up per game. The Colts will be licking their chops at that.
And then facing two of the league's top 5 defenses, on the road?
But what would worry me more is this team has not shown heart all season. In must win games against Indy and Atlanta late in the season, both at home, they lost in both spots. That doesn't strike me as the type of team that has the killer instinct necessary to go on the run you are asking them to go on.
Lucky for them, they got a reprieve facing Oakland and Kansas City; and just barely got by KC, too.
Of course it "could" happen. But at 50 to 1, I see no value.

Might as well play the +5000... if they get through Indy, and two of Tennessee/Pitt/Baltimore, they sure as hell will be tough to beat in the SB.

Where or when did you get +5000? I've seen offers between +2000 and +3000 this last week.
Of course +5000 is good value. The Chargers don't have to win the SB for you to make money with this. Let your $300 ride this weekend. Next week the Chargers should be small faves at home against the Colts. So you put some on the Colts. If the Chargers win that game you have ($300 +stake on Colts) in play to make 15K, with just three games left. Many ways to profit.

But they have to at least get there for him to have a chance to middle.

Why? If you don't like SD's chances against Denver you put some on the Denver ML (+300).
I'd like to know where he gets +5000 right now. I doubt it's on the table because the counter offer for SD to not win SB is far lower than that where I'm looking.

Doesn't come up in Firefox or IE for me.
Anyway, I wouldn't trust them if they offer +5000 at this point. SBR doesn't seem to have a rating for caliente, and collecting in TJ could be 'interesting'.

If you know them and they pay, take the +5000. Right now you could trade out of that at prices around -3000.
Can you post a screen shot of this bet, as offered by caliente?

I just got home from there, and this +5000 is correct. I thought about taking it since I live in SD, but just decided against it. I see them beating Den and MAAAAYBE Indy, but definately not Tenn and Pitt...back to back.
