Being doing just too good this early football season. Law of averages have to catch up sooner or later. One for today.

3* Falcons +1 vs. Eagles
This is a weird line with the success the Falcons have had at home recently and the Eagles’ recent turmoil. Lost in all the TO drama is the fact that the Eagles D-line is depleted (Corey Simon, Hugh Douglas, and Derrick Burgess are all gone, and Jerome McDougle out with gunshot wound). This is not the formula for beating a running team like the Falcons. The Falcons have been looking forward to this game since January, and are ready to show themselves as the class of the NFC. Super Bowl teams from the previous year are 2-12 ATS on road in opening games. Week 1 MNF home dogs 10-0 ATS, 9-1 SU.
Prediction: Falcons 21, Eagles 13

Baseball Overall (90-74-1, +43.58*)
Baseball Sides (54-42, +46.43*)

3* Astros (Backe) vs. Marlins (Willis) +145
We love the D-train, but this is a perfect scenario for the Astros to win as a home dog. They have gone 12-3 vs. lefties at home this year, while the Marlins are 25-29 on the road versus righties. The Astros have won all six of Backe’s home night starts this season.

3* Cardinals (Mulder) -1.5 vs. Pirates (Redman) -120
We can think of no reason this game should be close. The Cardinals are now in an incredible situation off a loss in which they scored 2 runs or less, 23-2 so far this year. The Cards have historically crushed Redman, and the Pirates are horrible on the road against lefties.

2* Indians (Sabathia) vs. A’s (Haren) -140
The Indians are playing like the best team in baseball, and Sabathia has been untouchable lately. The A’s mediocre offense shouldn’t test him.

2* Blue Jays (Lilly) vs. Redsox (Arroyo) +129
We have no respect for Arroyo, and we think Lilly will be good in his second start back from injury. We love playing against teams that just finished a series with the Yankees.

2* Cubs (Maddux) vs. Reds (Harang) -129
Cubs are still playing hard, while the Reds have seemingly gone in the tank. Maddux has been pitching like his Cy Young days recently, perhaps because he hopes the Cubs re-sign him.

Baseball Totals (36-32-1, -2.85*)

2* Baltimore (Cabrera) @ Rangers (Volquez) Over 11 -120
Two teams that have mailed it in. Volquez has been terrible for the Rangers, and Cabrera hasn’t been much better, last start notwithstanding. The ball should be flying out of this hitter’s haven tonight.

line tonight in the MNF game is too problematic for me. I am going to stay away. Razz makes some good points on ATL and history and things like that but I am going to pass on the side and instead focus on the total. Good luck Razz and all.
