Exclamation Brian Griese is now a Bear.

Not sure this is a good move or not, because it seems everywhere Griese goes, he dont help any.

Griese reaches five-year deal with Bears

    ESPN.com news services

Free-agent quarterback Brian Griese has agreed to a five-year deal with the Chicago Bears, ESPN.com's John Clayton reported Tuesday.

Financial terms are not yet known.

Griese lost his starting job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Chris Simms in 2005 when he suffered a season-ending knee injury after leading the club to a 5-1 start.

Griese, 30, completed 112-of-174 passes for 1,136 yards, with seven touchdown passes and seven interceptions in 2005 before suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

In eight seasons, Griese has completed 1,463-of-2,318 passes for 16,344 yards, with 103 touchdown passes and 78 interceptions, for a career efficiency rating of 84.8. A former University of Michigan star, Griese has started in 72 of 75 appearances with Denver (1998-2002), Miami (2003) and Tampa Bay (2004-05).

Probablly because Grossman is often injured. I don't like the length of the deal, but I do like this signing in general.

The Bears haven't had a good quarterback in years. Maybe he will revive his career in Chicago (I doubt it)

A step in the wrong direction. I don't think Griese is that much better than Orton. Now they've got three "hack" QBs. Chicago needed to take a flier on a QB in the draft somewhere. They can limp along with Orton if/when Grossman goes down, but Griese really adds no value to this team.

I dont know whats more stupid between
the Bears signing Grieser and the Raiders
signing Brooks. Maybe the Raiders is less
stupid because they only gave Brooks a
2 year contract instead of 5 years like
the Bears gave Grieser. Both temas
    still have quaterback trouble.

I hear you Curse, it boggles my mind about the length of the deal. Not to mention he's coming back from major surgery.
