If by rain windy, you mean mostly sunny & 4 MPH, then, yeah, sure.

I think it's a retractable roof. But if it does rain they'll close it up, so it would be dome-like.

It's a dome with a retractable roof and real grass. The only dome where the field is rolled out; i.e. to outside in the sun and rain ...

Actually I live here, and the roof doesn't open. It is always closed.
It's the field that goes outside to get sun. The field is on a big huge platform, and rolls right outside. They water it, and it gets plenty of sun. Then when they need it, it rolls back in, and they paint the lines, logos ect... and get it ready for the game.
Just for all your information. So ya the roof is always closed.

This is from the Cardinals site:
Quote:
|
The exterior design of the stadium has been created by world-renowned architect Peter Eisenman, along with HOK Sport and should become a landmark facility for Arizona. The basic form of the design takes its cue from a barrel cactus and offers alternating vertical slots with smooth panels. In addition, the translucent Birdair fabric roof will allow the stadium to have an open, airy feel even when the roof is closed. The roof has two large retractable panels that will uncover the entire playing field while providing maximum shading for fans. The roof can be closed and the facility air conditioned in the hot months, while the roof can be opened to take advantage of the Valley’s world-famous climate in cooler months.

The roof can be opened and closed.

Once the game begins they should not be allowed to close the roof, either close it the whole game or leave it open

oops my bad. I live here, and didn't even know that the roof could open. I will also admit that I haven't been to the stadium. I have been by it a few times, but I guess thats no excuse for me saying it doesn't open. Although what I said about the field I know is accurate.
Sorry about any confusion.

Isnt there something about the playing field to where it can roll in and out of the stadium I thought?

Cool info. Thanks guys. I never heard anything about this stadium. They should put the Cards in some prime time games, just to show off this stadium!

Football was meant to be played outdoors. Domes suck!

This is actually how the field in Reliant Stadium is done. Although the roof is retractable the grass is on moveable pallets of some sort.

Played maybe but not watched. Who in the hell wants to sit in pouring rain or hot ass weather?

Chicks with white tee-shirts of course. Did any body see the three chicks at the Green Bay game wearing gold bikini's in the sub zero weather? Now that's tough.

Big storm coming through tomorrow. Rain. No official news on the roof, but could very well be closed. (favoring Patriots and overs).

'Where will Timmy T be in 5 years?

I just looked up info on the stadium, and they brought in fresh turf from Alabama and placed it over the existing turf there. Took them 3 days to lay it on top.

I hope they did it a while ago, because that kind of thing can mess up the footing, and basically turn the game into a grassroots effort.
Any official news on the roof being open or closed?

Roof is closed right now.
So it's going to be a dome game on real grass.
