Default San Diego Chargers will own 2011

I'm placing a bet on the chargers 10-1 odds to win super bowl... they always play everyone tough in playoffs and if you think about it, over the past few years they have been very close but had a few slip ups that prevented them from making it!

    just something to think about

    risking $100 to win $1000

But it might just mean they're prone to mess up

btw- nice use of the exclamation point!

One good thing about the Chargers, of the AFC contenders they probably have the easiest path.

The Chargers are one of the, if not the worst playoff teams in NFL History. Since 2004, this team has had 5 shots at making the Superbowl and blown all 5 of them. Their overall record is 3-5 in that time period. Their home record is a poor 2-3. They have been one and out 3 times in that 5 year period and reached only one AFC Championship game. Wnile they seem to have a cakewalk in the AFC west, that has been the case for 4 years now. There are much better wagers than the Chargers.

May be good value, but I can't trust Norv Turner to get it done. At all.

SD will reach the playoffs but not winor even get to the super bowl

i would put them as front runners for the AFC but the NFC (gb) will be too good again.

San Diego, just does not have the team cohesiveness to get it done. Look at the recent SuperBowl teams and all of them had little to no locker room conflict, at least as far as the media went. This means that most of the guys enjoy playing with each other or can get along well enough to be on the same page. The tried to bait players and teams but the good teams (SB Winners) dont take the bait. San Diego always take the bait (LT, PR, SM). It probably helped SD that LT left.

That said N. Turner just does not seem like the kind of guy players rally around. As much as I hate to say it Rex Ryan has a better shot with Mark Sanchez then SD has of making the Super Bowl.

The books are loving anyone who puts any futures bets on the Chargers, LOL, they love ya!!!

Yeah, they won't do it again. Just can't trust them.

your crazy, the chargers arent going to own anything. They just traded their top corner away. They gave up a good blocking tight end. The only thing they gained this offseason is a RB. They will have the same kind of season they had last year. Make it to the playoffs and choke.

Chargers are kinda like the Cowboys and Colts, they suck in the playoffs.

Phillip Rivers might be one of those strong QB's who will retire without ever winning the Super Bowl.

You Chargers haters are a joke. What was the Saints' record before last year's Super Bowl run? How about the Giants or Colts before their respective Super Bowl years? People were saying the exact same thing about those teams. Let the season play out and see what happens. One thing for sure, nobody wants to be going into San Diego come playoff time.

As for them getting 10-1, I'll pass. Betting anything other than 20-1 or better longshots at this point is simply bad money management.

Exactly. That's why the Chargers haters are so assinine. So the Chargers are 2-3 in the playoffs under Norv, how many teams are better than that in the same span? Not many. Most teams would kill for 2 playoff wins in 3 years, some can't do that in one decade (Cowboys) or much longer (Lions). Look at the Cardinals who couldn't even sniff the playoffs much less get a win for most of their franchise history until the last couple years. Hating on the Chargers for their playoff mediocrity simply misses the point, that 31 teams end the season as losers in the NFL.

Is this some kind of hilarious joke?

The Chargers really don't seem like a team on the rise to me.

Nah. Their window closed with LT losing a step and Merriman playing like a shadow of himself. I'm fine with Rivers, but if they were supposed to win it, why would they have traded Brees? The way they lost to the Jets last year showed, again, that they are the Caveliers of the NFL (or maybe the Cavs are the Chargers of the NBA). Good in the regular season, and too soft in the playoffs. Almost every time they lost in the playoffs, in the LT years, the loss could have easily been avoided. That tells you all you need to know. And there is no way that Norv will change the culture.

The 2008 Saints were painfully "unlucky" over the course of the season, losing several games on relative flukes. They were probably more like a 10-6 squad then 8-8. They then went out and added several missing pieces to their D including one Darren Sharper. It's kind of a similar storyline to the Jets, except the Jets squeaked into the playoffs and showed how well they match up with playoff teams.

Chargers are finished. They lost their leader. They have no RB, no O line, no defense. Lost their best corner. LBs are playign like shit, Jamal Will retires. Bro chargers are finished. They had their moment in the sun the last 10 years with one of the greatest RBs ever to play.

They'll probably win that division because it's a joke. But they'll get bounced early in the playoffs.

can't believe i'm saying this, but the raiders may give 'em the most competition this year.

but basically this division is shit stacked from top to bottom.

With Jason Campbell as a Raider. Let's see this team compares to his old Redskins team.

Chargers and Cowboys will make it to the playoffs. But something is lacking to make them get to the Super Bowl.

I like the Chargers, during the regular season. But they need a culture change. In San Diego they need someone who knows what it takes to win in the playoffs. They've gone as far as they can under Norv. They'd have a shot if they could bring in someone like Cowher.

Norv has just as many playoff wins as the Pats & Colts in the span since coming to San Diego. So if you want to hate on Norv, you might as well hate on the Pats & Colts as well. That's a pretty high standard even for elite NFL teams.
