hmm.. I think all of the WR's are taking hits in this years draft. Is anybody going to draft one in the first round now.

Big 49ers fan here. I like the trade a lot. Not too bad a price at all.

Dolphins got screwed on that one, trading a 7th pick for a 5th round pick. Anyway you think of it the Dolphins got screwed there.

i don't think they could have gotten better value, really was a lose-lose for the fins.

He's been a disappointment since day one. Time to call it like it is. Good move by the Fish. Surely there is someone else that can catch the ball better that he could.

Nice get by san fran, speedy all purpose player who's down for whatever.

I was excited to see why the Fish drafted him so high. Total bust. Good move by Parcels.

    Dolphins admit Ginn mistake

With one trade Wednesday, followed by a reported second trade Friday, the Miami Dolphins did something that a lot of teams never do.
They admitted they blew a premium draft pick.
When Miami drafted receiver Ted Ginn with the ninth overall pick in 2007, there were a lot of eyes opened and a lot of questions. But the Dolphins thought they were drafting a star receiver/returner who could add the big play.
Instead, they got a receiver who was soft, which meant they used a premium pick on a return man.

$4 million a year for a slot WR IS a bad price.

kinda reminds me of when my vikings traded randy moss and ended up drafting freaking troy williamson 7th overall that year.. only Ginn can actually do something in the league for a little bit as a return guy

Jets got a better deal for holmes then did niners for ginn

He was compared to Randy Moss if not mistaken. He may very well turn into a real solid NFL player. Good move by the Niners, IMO. I think San Francisco is a team on the rebound back to glory in due time. This isn't the Detroit Lions.

I was referring to what the niners gave up to get him, not his salary, which realistically means two shits...

They could of gotten Holmes for a 4th rounder I'm sure...

Dolphins took Ginn Jr. 9th overall and all he did was return kicks. Good deal for the 49ers only giving up a 5th round pick.

Everyone is still looking for the next Devin Hester, multiple threat, if that kid could learn to be a receiver he'd be unreal.

I still say they should have left him returning kicks.

So let me get this straight. Miami gives a fortune to some malcontent, and then gets rid of the only other decent WR they have, for a throw away pick. Now that make a lot of sense. So now they have one WR who will be double teamed the entire season, and no one to throw him the ball. Brilliant moves by Parcels.

Greg Camarillo and Brian Hartline are better than Ted Ginn @ WR.

Kinda reminds me of Desmond Howard. Gotta realize the guy is only a KR.

100% agree. But how could they do that with that high of a pick.

Great example of NFL requirements meet College.

Guy could have been a stud returner and still might be. Decent #3 WR, not a 1 from day 1.

Parcell's maturity and ability to make clutch decisions and make things happen continues to amaze.

I think he has to focus on wr, or kick returning, don't think he can do both.

I mean, look at hester: ever since the bears decided to make him a big part of the passing game his abilities as a returner has diminished. you can't tell me those two trends don't correlate with one another.

use him as a full-time wide-out, or a returner, doesn't look like he can be successful at both.

BigDad the only thing that i like about the footballs offseason is not seeing you stupid ass posts. If you knew anything about the dolphins then you would know that Hartline, Camirillo and bess were all better than Ginn. As others have stated he is pretty much a glorified punt returner making a whole bunch of money. I still think with the right team he could turn into something but his isnt good in Mia, in fact i doubt he will work out in SF either. Ginn is soft as they come, is scared to get hit and statistically has the worsts hands in the league. He dropped %20 of the balls passed to him.

if 5th rounder is such a good deal why did no team offer them more?

come on now put your thinking caps on.

I pretty much agree with this...Must have not liked all those dropped balls. Love the move for SF. Stretch that field for Crabs.

don't think anyone saying it is a great deal, just the best value they could get trading ginn despite his subpar performance in the nfl. Parcells is making the best of a bad situation created by the previous regime in power in miami.

wtf is wrong with ppl? Frisco ppl actin excited like they really did something here...they got a good yet overpaid kick returner nothing more, the guy cant catch, runs sloppy routes, and honestly looks lazy most the time, congrats im sure that is the missing piece... gotta love the folks around here that think they know fb better than Parcels, something tells me he knows a little more than you and if he thinks the guy is only worth a 5th it tells me he didnt want his sorry ass around
