Yes, money plays a role, but Westbrook is a shadow of himself and had even talked about retiring due to numerous injuries in the last three years. He was a great player, but if you can't stay healthy, you don't get a roster spot. Westbrook isn't coming back. He might be done period.

All the more reason to trade McNabb and go for youth. The current core of players had their chance, time to start fresh.

Unless you're in the tri-state area you probably wouldn't have heard about it. With the concussions, knee & ankle issues and a 7 million dollar bonus due in March, they had no choice.

I'm sure Westbrook can still play and can still play well but someone earlier in this thread (sorry i dont scroll up to look) said if you cant stay healthy you dont get a roster spot and thats true but i wish him luck he was and is a great player

They already have the heir apparent as well with McCoy who I think is going to be a solid RB for many years. This move gives them roster flexibility and a chance to pursue RBs in free agency if they choose to and I think they definitely bring in a vet (3-5 years experience) to pair with McCoy. Probably add more depth in the draft too.

I think they are worried about all of these concussions and ankle injuries hes had. I dont blame them for how much he was getting paid.

He is always talking concussions maybe they felt like his heart was not in it either, add that to the money, not a good formula, good day

Unlike LT, Westbrook should hang it up. One more head shot and he may never recover. Who knows what type of vegetable he will be 10 years from now. He has played long enough. He had his chance. The Eagles are going nowheres. Time to retire. The risk is no longer worth it.

I will miss seeing him line up. Great person ,player and professional. I would think they would have just tried restructuring his contract to three million a season.

Westbrook was a great back when he was healthy, but that hasn't been the case over past 2 seasons.

I'm a big Eagles fan, and this was absolutely the right move. Westbrook needs to get into golf or poker or something where he won't whack his head, because God only knows what one more concussion would do.
