    Default Chargers eye trade scenarios

    By Chris Mortensen

With LaDainian Tomlinson's career in San Diego declared all but over and Darren Sproles facing free agency, the Chargers are exploring possible trade scenarios that include dealing cornerback Antonio Cromartie to acquire a running back, according to league sources.

Cromartie is a four-year starter, a former first-round draft pick and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2007 when he intercepted 10 passes. Sources have said he has fallen out of favor with the Chargers, who also have a pair of corners in Quentin Jammer and Antoine Cason who were first-round picks.
The Chargers' most pressing offseason need is in the offensive backfield. Tomlinson declared shortly after the season that he believed his nine-year career with the Chargers is finished. He expects to be released shortly. Sproles is a pending restricted free agent who would be due $7.3 million in 2010 if the Chargers tender him a contract, a 10 percent increase over his 2009 franchise-tag salary of $6.67 million. Sproles has said he intends to test the market but expressed a preference to remain in San Diego.
Among the teams that have running back depth are the Dallas Cowboys with Marion Barber, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice at the position. Several teams are looking for cornerback depth, including the Green Bay Packers, sources said.
The Chargers may be willing to trade Cromartie for a draft choice that could give them more flexibility to select at least one running back in this year's draft, sources said.

Cro started out really well for the Bolts; that 07 year was huge, but then his production tapered off considerably ever since. I wouldn't mind seeing him traded for another position player.

The Chargers are losers. Always have been. Always will be. They are one of the worst playoff teams of all time. Losing is in their blood when it comes to playoffs. Rivers chokes. The coaching staff chokes. The defense chokes. They have lost more playoff games at home in the past 6 years than they have won. If it were not for the fact that they play in the worst division in NFL History, they would not be in so many playoff games. This team is the ONLY team in the AFC West that has not won a Superbowl.

If the Chargers are to ever go anyplace, they must get rid of everyone, starting with their cheap, crappy ownner, and working their way down to the phonies on defense, like Merriman, who only knows how to beat up on women. They dump Brees, and he wins a Superbowl. Nice work. This team plays in a stadium only surpassed by that dump in Oakland as the worst in the NFL. Their fans are worthless, and totally clueless. The city has never won a championshop in any major sport. Yes, the Chargers have to make changes, and it starts at the top. Losing is like a disease. Once it gets into your blood, it never gets out. No one has been a bigger disappointment in the past 4 years than the Chargers. 13-3, 8-8, 11-5, and 14-2 and no Superbowl appearances. A record of 46-18 in 4 years during the regular season. No team has compiled a better record and NOT been in the Superbowl. Only two teams have lost less games in that period of time, and both have played in the Superbowl.

Okay Charger fans. I dare any of you to tell me that losing is not in the blood of this team, that your stadium is not a dump, and that Charger fans have a clue as to what is going on in the NFL. If you had a clue, you would demand that the team be sold, or at least play in a decent stadium. I could give a flying f**k less whether you Charger fans take me seriously or not. The Chargers are one of the biggest losers of all time. That disaster of a team has played in one Superbowl, and took one of the worst beatings in Superbowl history. They complelely choked again in the playoffs this year, as is their habit. They are one of the worst playoff teams in the NFL. Prove me different Charger fans. No more Bull Sh** about LT, or Rivers, or Merriman, or anything else. It's about time that you losers who call yourself fans come up with the proper reason why you team can't win caca in the playoff season. Stop eating your quiche, sipping your wine, and waving at the gay caballeros that walk down Pacific Avenue and come up with a reason why you team is one of the worst in NFL history when it comes to the playoffs. Hell, you may as well change the colors of that team to Pink and White.

Hate the Chargers, but Rivers has sort of won me over the last couple of years...Dude plays big...The recent Jets game is your only argument...Hard to play well when your RB is not a Homerun threat...And by Homerun, I mean any rush over two yards.

That is my entire point. Rivers had a great year, but choked in the playoff game. This is the history of this franchaise. Roll through the regular season, thanks in part to the terrible division that they play in, then choke in the playoffs. Last year is a perfect example. After starting out slowly (something that has also become a habit of late), the Chargers catch fire, going 11-0 after a 2-3 start. They are the hottest team in the NFL. They crush the NFC East. They defeat 3 playoff teams. They defeat at Tennessee team on the road. The same Tennessee team that had won 7 out of 8 games and was fighting for a playoff spot. They are favored by many to go to the Superbowl. They get a bye week. They get their first playoff game at home. And what happens? They go directly into the tank. They choke against a team with a rookie QB. This has happened 3 times in the past 6 years, and one of those years they did not get to the playoffs at all. That shows me that when the playoffs come around, this team is just looking for a reason to explain another playoff loss.

San Diego needs a total reorgization. Rivers can not do it alone. The rest of this team, especially their veterans, have come to accpet losing in the playoffs as business as usual. This team needs an infusion of a winning attitude when the playoffs come around. This starts at the top. The fiasco surrounding their stadium is a huge distraction. The fans seem to be satisfied on blaming their losses on the coaching staff. Firwst, they blame it on Marty S. and run him out of town. Now they blame it on Turner, who has done nothing wrong. Try putting the blame where it belongs. On the players. If this continues, we will hear nothing but excuses for years from Charger fans. What was their excuse in 04 and 06 when LT was at his prime and the Chargers lost their first playoff game at home?

Losing is not in the blood of this team, our stadium is not a dump (though, it would be nice to get a new one ), and Charger fans do actually have a clue as to what is going on in the NFL.

By the way, looking at the playoff appearances of the Chargers and Bears since the NFL-AFL merger, they both are actually about the same. The Bears have 13 appearances and the Bolts have 12. Two SB appearances for the Bears, winning one and losing one, and one SB appearance for the Bolts, which they lost. So, really, the only difference in playoff history between the Bears and Chargers is that the Bears have won one SB out of it. Other than that, the Bears are no better or worse than the Chargers when it comes to the playoffs.

Dude, you're a Vikings fan, the team with the most playoff appearances without a SB win. Your team appeared in 26 playoffs, second most in playoff history after the Cowboys since the merger, and made it to four SBs, and never won anything out of it. I wouldn't be talking smack if I were you.

Next time you feel like smacking the Chargers, look at your own team:

Most teams would dream to be in this club.

Besides, SD is 3-3 in the playoffs in the past 3 years. Two of those wins were as dogs. Two of those losses were as dogs. 4-2 ATS over those games isn't bad. If we go back to the Marty years, it's uglier, but Marty's gone.

So, you are really are a Favre fan, and not a fan of any particular team. But you were a Packer fan all your life, and now you're rooting for the rivaled Vikings because of Favre, wow! That's like if LT goes to the rivaled Raiders, then a Charger fan will then root for the Raiders, lol, not gonna happen!

So, since you are a Favre fan, and not a true diehard Packer fan, then don't claim the 3-1 SBs. Favre only got you 1 SB win out of that. And if Favre does come back next year, it might not be with the Vikings, so you're point about Minny doing better than SD is irrelevant.

Dude, I was born & raised in Wisconsin. You are a tiny minority if you are rooting for Favre after him going to the Vikes. I thought I was the last Wisconsin Favre apologist, but I guess I'm wrong. I was fine with him playing for the Jets, but when he manipulated his release so he could play for the most hated rival I just can't forgive the guy.
