they'll need to make a lot of changes for that to happen.

They have receivers and return men. I think they might need another TE and maybe another running back to compliment McCoy. They need a dominate pass rusher on defense also. They are not far away but neither are like 5 other teams in NFC, gonna be tough

If they'd stayed healthier, they would have been in the running last year. QB controversy is never good for a championship run, though.

McNabb and Reid simply do not have it. Year after year we read the same old garbage about the Eagles and how they are going to end up in the Superbowl. Philly is going nowheres this season. Not until they get a new Qb and a new HC.

I was going to say just the opposite. Reid has proven to be one of the dominant coaches of the past decade. McNabb is a top 5 QB when healthy, which has been a big problem for him. The Eagles have always been able to put points on the board despite not having the biggest names on offense.

The problem is the defense. Last year was the worst I've seen this Eagles team maybe since before Buddy Ryan. Could be the loss of Jim Johnson, maybe the defense needs a complete overhaul. But that's a major question that needs to be asked going into next season.

Depending on what the Eagles want to do, maybe it's time to rebuild or retool. Ship McNabb, get Kolb in there and maybe make some big changes on defense. This will be an interesting offseason to see which direction the Eagles go. No matter what happens, I think Reid is a capable coach and will keep this team headed in the right direction.

Trade McNabb. Stewart Bradley comes back healthy at MLB. Add help in the secondary via draft or free agency.

    Id say they have it

if they can upgrade their lines they should have a good shot

Eagles are going nowhere next season. Giants will be better and the Cowboys should be good early on.

I don't understand all this ragging on Andy Reid. He's the most successful coach in the NFL without a ring. Not many can boast about being in the playoffs year after year and more playoff wins than losses.

As for McNabb, he's good enough to win. It's a team game, after all, he's plenty good enough to take the Eagles wherever they need to go. If they want to go with Kolb because want to retool the team and go in a different direction, I can understand that. But to say that McNabb can't win in the NFL is worse than when people were saying that Favre was done when he left the Packers.

Reid is an excellent team builder, but I often find his in game decisions highly questionable. For instance, in the 2007 playoffs, in a shootout game with the saints, he punted in a spot where you should go for it 100% of the time with about 3 minutes remaining and the defense playing like crap.

Since the drama with his sons, Reid and Mornhinweg have gone from innovative and surprising to routine and predictable with the offensive playcalling, and clock management mistakes are commonplace.

Perhaps the Eagles need a firebrand coach to go that last step to a championship after the foundation was laid by a more cerebral type of guy like in Tampa Bay.

As for McNabb, I used to think that sublimated racial tension was responsible for the "choke artist" label. But I think since his injuries have mounted up, he's become almost gunshy late in big games. He seems to depend on emotional momentum, and that doesn't work in spots you need a QB to go and win the game for you.

Watching Kolb in the short time he filled in for McNabb, he looked pretty good against the underrated Saints defense. He really impressed me with his level of accuracy, hitting his targets in stride. Though he had two picks, Kolb put up more points than Manning against New Orleans. I think he deserves a chance.

The short-tempered Philly fans were calling for Reid and McNabb's heads long before it made any logical sense, but now the "fans that cried wolf" may have a point.

the same eagles team that got whupped back to back weeks by a dallas team that wasn't even the second best team in the NFC?

no chance. McNabb is a mental midget, and Reid is the worst "successful" head coach of all time.
