Still think an NFL team somewhere will be giving him a call come September when QB's start getting banged up.

    That's debatable. Very good career, but don't know if he's a shoe-in.

Warner is a class act. Based on what he said I think he will stay retired. "I am looking forward to whats to come next in my life." That I think seals the deal. I really have grown to like Warner the last few seasons. The dude took two of the worst teams in history and made them great and aside from the great numbers the dude is tough as nails. Sorry to see him leave but I'm glad to seem him go out on his own terms with no regrets.

This leaves the door open to a team winning the division at .500 or worse next year

His stats are off the charts.
Most yards thrown in a Super Bowl (Not once, but 3 times)
#1 career passing yards in a Super Bowl
    2 Time League MVP
    Super Bowl MVP
    Re-Built two bottom feeder franchises
    4-time Pro Bowler & 2-time First-Team All-Pro
#2 Career Passing Yards per Game
    #2 Career Pass Completion %

Plus other QB's have got into the Hall with less.

    First Ballot HOF'er EASY!

I sure hope you're right that Warner comes back, I will miss him, but I don't think he wants to upset his wife and family. There would have to be some drastic actions for Warner to come back:
    - Get brand new tackles for better protection, Brown, Gandy, and now Bridges suck
    - Finally get him a real tight end, something he never had in Arizona
    - Give him COMPLETE AUTONOMY of Cardinal offense, like Manning in Indy. When Warner got back in the fold after the Denny Green fiasco, Warner was only playing in the 2 minute offense and called his OWN plays.
    - Draft a quarterback for Warner to help groom who's willing to learn (Tebow????)
    - Let Warner become offensive coordinator next year when he's retired. While most great players don't make good coaches, I think Warner would be the exception, similar to Larry Bird. Plus Warner already has an investment in the team playing 5 years.

I think all these concessions would need to be made by the Cardinals, and even a couple of others, before Warner would consider coming back, but we can always hope. I saw a story that said there are receivers concerned about Leinart taking over, but it didn't identify anyone by name.

Warner is not a glory whore like Favre. He was not that emotional yesterday when he announced his retirement. He has also been to more Superbowls than Favre. He will be a first ballot HOF'er. He is a class guy, something that is becoming a rarity in the NFL these days. I think he stay s retired.

Agreed...He's just as excited about life after football than he was during pre-S.B conferences..

From 2002-2006 nobody wanted Warner. Anyone remember he was on the Giants? Those were 4 years that I'm sure Warner would love to forget. He's had H.O.F. receivers to throw to his entire career. He deserves a look at the Hall, but I wouldn't say shoe-in.

I agree he will get into the HOF eventually....just not on the first try.

Yeah I know. I also remember Steve Young on Tampa.

BUT there have been other QB's like that as well.

Look at Tom Brady now. He won 3 SB's early. Really doubt he sniffs another one, but he'll be in the HOF.

Hell Joe Namath is in the HOF.

Here is another Stat I found this morning. Out of the last 14 QB's to make the HOF in the last 25 years only one other QB had a better completion percentage, yards per pass attempt and yards per game. That was Dan Marino.

If Aikman can get in on his first try, then Warner is a shoe in on his first try.

Yeah, I mean why do people act like he's trying to get in based on a strictly arena league career or something? He probably should have been MVP last year since he had more yards, touchdowns, and a higher quarterback rating than Manning. The Rams had 9 straight losing seasons before Warner led them to a Super Bowl win. Look how dysfunctional the rams have been since getting rid of him. The Cardinals had only 1 winning season in 25 years when Warner led their Super Bowl run, to be followed up with another winning season and a playoff win. Not exactly quality franchises he's been blessed with, playing for perhaps the 2 worst owners ever.

Every year he started all 16 games, his teams ALWAYS made it to the Super Bowl. Who knows what may have happened if he could've accomplished that this year. They win Tennessee game he missed, then the last Green Bay game of regular season has meaning and a win there gets them a #2 seed and a bye. Getting them time to rest injured players. The only debate is does he go in the hall as a Ram or a Cardinal?
