Default This SB was already played in the 90s!!

I felt like I had a nice bead on Indy/Jets by comparing Rex Ryans defense/running to the 1984 Bears/49ers matchup. Montana & his weapons along w/an underrated D beat up on a one-dimensional Chicago team!

Here is another valid comparison the way I see it to this years SB matchup!
The 2nd Elway SB vs Atlanta in the late 90s!

Atlanta beat a more talented Vikings team to make it to their 1st SB in team history to face a legendary QB trying to win his 2nd SB...sound familiar? Granted..both of these teams weren't passing teams like Indy/NO and Drew Brees is 10X better than Chris Chandler ever was! I still see the experience factor for Denver compared to the "happy to be there" level of Atlanta being repeated! The Saints are a good team but Indy is built to play pass defense! I know Sanchez did some damage but Indy won't be stacking the box vs the Saints like that and overplaying the run! Sanchez also played a helluva game and made some great throws! I hit Indy, Minnesota, and MN/Saints Over on here last week...like Colts by 10-14 here!!

TO get to that Super Bowl that year, Denver beat the Jets in the AFC championship game. By 13 points (23-10).

Atlanta beat Minnesota. By 3 points (30-27). In OT.

Same losing teams as this season. Same victory margins as this season.

    Spooky.

One big difference, Atlanta was 10 1/2 point dogs going into Minnesota. These Saints were 4 1/2 point favorites over the Vikings at home.

This comparison would have made more sense if the Vikings were playing the Colts.

I'd say the Saints-Colts matchup is more similar to the 1999 Rams-Titans matchup. The 2009 Saints are more like the 1999 Rams "Greatest show on turf" and the Colts are more of a QB driven team like McNair's Titans.
