    Default Jets are overrated.

Is it me or are the Jets the most hyped up overrated team in recent playoff history? Yes their defense is good but they are no where close to the Ravens superbowl D as some have suggested. And do we forget that this same Jets team let the Jaguars(mediocre at best) come into new york and smack them in the mouth? I think the new york media hype machine has brainwashed a lot of people and they will get burned this week.

STAY AWAY FROM THE JETS!!! DON'T BECOME A VICTIM OF THE MACHINE!!!

You have to go back to week 10 to cite a 2 point loss to make your point. I think you answered your own question.

Here's some stats I found interesting about Sanchez:
    Playoffs: 2-0, 24/38 282 yards 2 TD 1 int 92.2 passer rating

Don't understand your reasoning. This is a team that held a team SD to hardly any points and SD was scoring 20+ a game. I have lost a lot of $$$$ on the Jets this year and won't do it again.

SD was 3-2 in the playoffs under Norv Turner going into that game. Hardly "always chokes".

with SD's talent 3-3 in the playoffs is not good my friend.

Jets have have made the most out of the sitiuations in front of them.

They played the bengals in the first round, who were one of the most injured teams in the league, again. If the bengals have all their starters on D, Jets dont beat the bengals with playaction and long runs.

Sd missed 3 FGs, no other way to slice it, Jets were lucky. When someone like kaeding misses 2 in 1 game you are lucky, too miss 3 is some serious choking.

I expect this nyj/ind game too stay close for the first half. Jets will disrupt peyton a little but it will only be a matter of time before peyton turns the jets blizting against them.

Peyton is 8-8 in the playoffs. I guess he's a choker too, right?

You were the one saying 3-3, I came back with apples to apples.

    Peyton is 8-8.

Wanna talk rings? Tell me about Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Mark Rypien, Jay Hostetler, etc... That's apples to apples, buddy.

Apparently it's working. So why stop if it's working?

Joe Namath guaranteed victory back in the day, how'd that work out?

The thing about the Jets isn't that they are stacked with talent or anything like that. What they do is make you play their game. They're successful because a team will go in against them with a plan and they have to throw it away after the 1st quarter because the Jets stifle them.

I admire the way they approach the game: down but never out.

Actually, their offensive line is the most talent stacked in the league, as a whole.

They've got some big names on defense too, nobody is better than Revis right now.

Nice post....Peyton had a 101 QB rating when blitzed this year! Good luck with that! Revis is a great player but look for the Colts to move Reggie around...he's played out of the slot alot in his career! Vincent Jackson got his 100 so don't expect Reggie to disappear! Watching the clips...Manning barely missed some big plays that were open in the Week 16 game!

My point is that they don't wow you like the definitive "powerhouses" left in the playoffs, they get in, get the job done, and get out (even if it requires some missed FGs...so be it!)

I'm officially on their bandwagon...would LOVE to see Thomas Jones and that offensive line get rings, they deserve them.

Jet fans go back 40 years for a big win. Sorry you are going to have to wait longer for another big win. Think grand children.

This all sounds like the giants a couple of years ago, except the Giants beat an undefeated team, the jets have a far superior defense then the Giants had two years ago but not as good of an offense, jets will win Sunday, because they have the superior defense and the superior running offense, Peyton will have at most eight chances to score on the field, and he better make the most of them

    Jets are overrated.
I disagree with this statement as far as the spread against the Colts. I think the Jets are correctly rated, and the odd makers are correctly reflecting that "rating" in the spread. Jets backers are getting +7.5 (+8 in some books), which is right where it should be against the dominant nearly perfect Colts.

As far as the season stats, I would probably go so far as to say that the Jets are actually a little underrated, because the general public does not seem to be taking seriously the Jets #1 defense and #1 rushing attack. If the Steelers had those stats this year, then everyone would be jumping on the mighty Steelers bandwagon heading for the SB, but because it is the lowly out of nowhere Jets, who happen to be wearing a green jersey rather than the black and gold, then no one is giving them the slightest chance.

It may seem like my first paragraph is contradicting my second paragraph, but there is actually no contradiction, because there is no other way to slice it Jets fans, the Colts ARE the better team, but just because the Colts are better does not mean that the Jets have no chance or that they'll be blown out. The Jets can definitely hang with the Colts even if they will, in the opinion of the general public, come up short.

So, like I said in another post, my betting strategy: Jets ATS, Colts ML, though I'll be rooting for the Jets to upset the Colts, since I have a SB futures bet on the Jets.

I'm not going to call the Jets overrated, but I will say this. They have played two games exactly to their liking that has allowed them to protect Sanchez. They have not been 10+ points behind. The Bengals have had difficulty all season scoring points so the Jet ability to control that game wasn't as much of a surprise. Last week, however, was. Three questions should key your evaluation of Sunday's game.

    1. Did the Jets dictate play to the Chargers or did the Chargers choose to play it too conservatively?
    2. Can the Colts dictate play to Jets?
    3. If they can, will the Colts choose to play a conservative, "don't make any mistakes" kind of game?

Personally, I think the Chargers played not to lose on Sunday and the Colts CAN score against the Jets. My big question is whether the Colts will play it conservatively. Remember Caldwell played it conservatively when he had a chance to go undefeated. I could easily see him sitting on a 10 point lead and falling victim to a backdoor cover.

I watched the Jets-Chargers game the other night. I don't think the Chargers left anything on the field. They played to win, but the Jets were better.

Indy is going to stick to their game plan, the Jets will stick to theirs. The problem I see is that this game will rest completely on Peyton's shoulders for the Colts. The Colts can't run, their run defense is suspect (24th ranked). Peyton might pull a miracle, but I'm betting against it.

It's strength against strength and the Jets are holding the trump card in Revis. If the Colts were less of a one-dimensional team this year, I'd be going the other way. But the Jets are running perfect right now with running game and defense, all the Colts have is Peyton. It takes more than one great player to win a championship, it takes a complete team. This is what the Jets are showing at this moment in time.

With so much anti-Jets sentiment in a lot of threads, I would say the Jets are UNDERrated. People still don't believe that the team with the best defense in football made the Final Four. Oh the horrors!!

Oh and the Jets defense this season allowed fewer yards per play than the 2000 Ravens.

The problem is that nobody likes Rex Ryan and his self promoting attitude. Do people even know the players that play on the Jets. Look at there offensive line, studs everywhere. The only thing i cant see the Jets doing is stopping Dallas Clark. They couldnt stop Gates completely and the colts offense presents the same problem with a better qb to find those plays more often then rivers did.

Dude you must be a bigger Jets homer than that fireman guy

SD missed 3 fgs, numerous stupid a$$ penalties, Norv Turner playing more LT and less Sproles being the genius he is, and Rivers sets up the Jets $hit offense for an easy TD on a dumba$$ throw....AND THEY STILL WERE RIGHT THERE AT THE END No way SD could've played any worse!! No gifts tomorrow!!

All he said is that they played to win, not they they played well, or are you saying that they didnt play to win

And obviously the Jets were better Sunday because they won

Right on the money Juice...I cant seem to tell these boys enough Jets did NOTHING to earn their playoff berth and even Rex was on National TV saying they were done with etc etc..Now yea they beat S.D last weekend..Im still somewhat convinced at least the first F.G missed was a intentional shave...Then the heat started and maybe the pressure got to them from their..
