as the league gets more and more pass happy, I could see some stud coming into the League and dominating and having enough longevity and breaking the receiving record. The shelf life for a RB is just too short, for the most part rb's are staying the same size, but DL-men, LB's and safeties are getting bigger and faster. Rb's take too much of a beating to last long enough to break the record

WR's on the other hand are getting bigger, faster, stronger, taller. I think we'll see a 6'5 240lb receiver that runs a 4.3-4.4 come into the league and dominate for 10-12 years and then hang on for another half decade or so like Rice did to pad the stats and make it close

    Receiving record.

Running backs are too fungible and break down too quickly.

I would say the Rushing record....

Wasn't LT supposed to beat Emmitts record?

Randy Moss will break Jerry Rice's record. He's on pace to do it in maybe 5 years if he can stay on pace. He's on the right kind of team with the right kind of QB and a coach that's probably sympathetic towards achieving that kind of record if he gets close. Moss just needs to stay healthy, which seems reasonable given his career history.

Moss is over 8,400 yds away from Rice. He has been averaging a little 1,000 a year. Will need to play 8 more years most likely to break it.

No way the rushing record falls ever. If LT at 30 can't rush for 100 yards in a game for the entire season, and averages only 3+ yards per carry, then how can anybody rush for nearly 20,000 yards if 10,000 is the breakdown point. More respect than ever for #22. No matter how fast you start as a running back, the end is always closer with each carry.

Smith's record will never be broken because guys do not play that long and injuries so relevant in todays game.

Rice's record because of the way the league's rules have turned it into a pass-happy league...

And the RB durability issue, as well...

Both records will be hard to break, but I think Rices' 1500+ receptions will never be broken. That number can only come from video games.

RBs dont have to carry such a load

The NFL is looking like the Old AFL, Pass 1st and Run only if you have to. Both of these records I'm sure will be broken Rice first because of what I just stated. No one thought Lou Gehrigs record was safe , Babe Ruth's' 714, Ted Williams .400 might stand for awhile and of course Joe DiMaggios' 56. But that's why they say: "Records are made to be broken".

maybe rushind record...j rice is considered the g.o.a.t and would take 20 years to break it

If Moss does not dreak Rice's record it will never be broken. Do you guys understand how far Rice is ahead of anyone else.

Both record are very hard to break, if Moss breaks it he will do it before a running back does, but it is very possible these records stand until the world ends.

As much as NFL has become more of a passing league the ball is spread around more, not only was Rice great but he had 1000 yards at age 40 when nobody else has even played the position past age either age 37 or 38 would have to check, Rice played to 42. Moss breaks the record or nobody, and i don't see Moss have the longevity to do it.
